2024 XLT with hard plastic modular bed liner.

So I realized I never really shared my LED bed light install. I realized that the the modular hard plastic bed liner is like a giant Lego set. I installed TecNiq E45 light strips similar to what we have installed in compartments of our fire trucks/ambulances. I went with 25 inch bars but could have got away with the longer one. I installed them below the area where the cargo management bar would be installed in case I get system at some point. But I took the sides of the bed liner out and mounted the strips. I placed the deutsch style connector in a spot that there was a grommet behind the bed liner that the connector fit through so if for some reason I would need to repair something I can just unplug the connector. My plan is to go back and wire the bed lights into the factory switch in the bed of my truck and eliminate the separate switch for the bed lights. Photos are a little out of order.

Noice! Man, if I wasn't so lazy to undo my modular bed, I may do this too

I assume you installed your liner yourself. What did use use to cut out the squares around the cubby/receptacle panel? I am about to undertake this, but am nervous to cut it clean.

Makes sense. I just bought a liner from Ford, and there is not a single hole in any of it. You have to cut every screw/bolt hole and opening. It appears yours is cut around the cubby/panel and not under it (i.e screws go through the cubby AND liner).

My cubbies are secured to the metal truck bed and the liner is on top of them. They must make the cuts/holes with something fancy to cut them.

I’m not nearly adventurous nor mechanically inclined so I’m using a pack of those inexpensive (~$10-20/pk) under-counter magnetized usb rechargeable LED light and motion sensor light strips. What I like is they go on when I open the hatch and I always have flashlights available to pull off when I need one. Also, I’m not interacting with the battery to mess it up (I’ve noticed the app drain others have mentioned when not driving often)
But good job!

Two non-sequiturs.
1) I too was in the signal corp. 31C
2) Thank you for the write-up. I may do this mod.
