So I just took ownership of a 2024 Ford Maverick XLT and while browsing through settings under driver assistance I found a launch control setting. (See video) Now, Im a self proclaimed car guy but I bought this as a daily and if someone has been launching it for 21k miles I wanna know. Can anyone provide insight on this or recommend how to handle the dealer if this car was modified (They did not disclose this and did claim the factory warranty was intact)

I’d be more concerned about the previous owner’s oil change frequency. 3 changes minimum. Anything less indicates abuse.

7 changes (3K miles)? Send the previous owner a thank you letter!

What is displayed when going into the LC menu? Is the launch RPM tunable?

If it actually works (which I Question) you do realize it’s mandatory that you try it, right?:thumbsup:

In and of itself, it would not deter me from buying that vehicle, I think I’ve use LC a total of 4-5 times on my vehicles Just because it exists. My guess is that the previous owner was Forscan fluent. Are there any other mods to the drivetrain? Tune?

Good luck

UPDATE - there was a ball joint installed in the dash which I assumed was a phone holder. Upon further research it is a mounting point for a Livewire Tuner. So pretty sure im in deep trouble with this one.
Taking it to ford on Friday for a used vehicle inspection and to document all modifications from stock.

4 oil changes in 2 years & 21k miles is very good.

You joined the forum last night and you tracked a ball joint to a specific tuner? That is excellent sleuthing!

Does the 2024 XLT EB have launch control as a standard feature - or is that tuner specific?

Hahaha thanks. As far as that being a standard feature, Not sure still trying to figure that out. Im like 90% on the tuner tho. Only one with a mount that style.

What about the exhaust system and intake? If stock exhaust remains, is there evidence it was re-installed for the sale/trade-in? Same with the intake/CAI, BOV, etc. ..

I would be curious to know what happens when going into the LC screen and also to know if it actually works (worked).

The Forscan guys here will know if LC can be enabled via Forscan... I recall the LOBO has LC so it may be present in Forscan for the other models..

Good luck....

Also, the car feels pretty quick not sure if that’s a stock Maverick, but I’m gonna try to post a draggy time tomorrow

No intake and no signs of one, exhaust not sure but it sounds tame.

I tried it earlier and it just clicked and nothing happened. I was in eco tho so I will try tomorrow in sport with TC off. Ill update yall.

And yeah im assuming forscan has been used. Not sure if that is grounds for them to take back the truck tho.

Thank you 🫡

As mentioned, sounds like someone did some Forscan work on your truck. Heck, they may be on this forum actually. Thinking they just turned on the LC in the menu but it probably doesn't operate. Some things in Forscan require modifying multiple different settings just to get one function to work.

And the Ecoboost Mav really just is that quick already 😉

Pardon my ignorance but WTF is this “Launch Control” you speak of? Not trac control?

It's for drag racing. It applies the front brakes (well, on a RWD vehicle--I'm not sure how that is handled on FWD or AWD) and lets you rev the engine prior to punching it when the Christmas tree goes green.

I knew about that in the 60’s-70’s or so with RWD, but not front or all wheel drive! Thought maybe you’d blow up the drivetrain on them. 🤔
