I couldn't find a thread on this specific comparison/discussion, so I'm starting one. I just received my Switchback's and bought them mostly because I got them for $39 shipped. I guess I didn't realize Lasfit also has amber LED's for the front turn signals. Now I'm torn...

I actually like amber lights. They serve a purpose when headlights aren't needed/desired but some lighting is required. For me, I encounter this when I go hunting, warm up the vehicle in a dark area, etc. And yes, sometimes I even enjoy just rolling with the ambers on.

However, I think someone mentioned that just like the switchbacks, they too are very bright. Anyone rolling Lasfit ambers have any insight to offer? I'm considering returning my switchback's for ambers.

I have the amber only. Those are intended for Lariats, because Lariats have DRL eyebrows above the headlights. XL and XLT's are designed to get the switchbacks, because the turn signals are also DRL's. Amber when signal is active, then they switchback to white DRL when not flashing.

I have never seen anyone put amber only in an XL/XLT. Probably what will happen is they will always be amber. Amber flashing turn signal, and amber DRL's. Or worse, they may only work one or the other, signal or DRL.

If you want to put in Lasfit turn signals in an XL, I highly recommend the switchback. The amber only is just as bright as the switchbacks. But it sounds like Amber DRL's may be a desired effect for you.

Well, I have my XL set to run DRL's. This option is selected in the guage pod menu. It essentially activates the lower lights during the day time and if "auto" is selected they will turn on fully at dusk with amber parking/turn signal lights. So, I already have DRL's. The switchbacks would not really be adding much in that way I suppose.

I guess I need to decide if I want amber on all the time (when lights are actually "on") or only when turn signals are in use. I'm thinking the former....

I have no truck yet but I’ll have an XLT and I have amber only leds from vleds. They’ll just run amber all the time and flash brighter when signaling. Same thing the lasfits will do. They will be more than bright enough

The switchbacks are the parking lights. The low beams are your Drl but the white switchback would come on whenever you switch to park lights or when your lights come on “fully” at night

 wow, $200+ for something you'll never actually see on your own vehicle?

Excellent piece of information. Thank you. You always amaze me with your knowledge.
