I have had my 2025 AWD hybrid XLT Maverick, complete with moonroof and the luxury and 4K tow packages, and actually quite love it. I waited for this particular drivetrain since the model’s introduction. However, I have since been fighting Lariat envy, what with the 360 camera system, leatherette seats, upgraded sound system, and electric rear window, although this trim level would have run about $8500 more. Furthermore, I generally find cloth seats to be more comfortable than leatherette or even leather and I can always upgrade the sound system. Can anyone offer some perspective on this mental dilemma?

Absolutely not a political reply here. Please don't consider it one. I'm apolitical.

OP, how does $18,000 more for that Lariat sound? That's what a new Lariat order might cost come Sunday. 25% tariffs on a $40,000 vehicle is a $10,000 plus-up. And 25% tariffs on Mexico are promised on 1 February (tomorrow). And Mavericks are made in Mexico.

I'm sitting back in my easy chair with my popcorn ready.

Bonus thought: Will Santa Cruz buyers be making fun of Mavericks for costing so much more starting next week? Since the Santa Cruz is built in the USA?

This will be an interesting watch - I took delivery on my 2025 Maverick Lariat AWD Hybrid on January 24th I have 220 miles on it wondering what selling it could net me lol

My 2024 Lariat AWD Eco was just under $37,000
I like everything about it, every Lariat option, I didn't at first
but now I'm kinda spoiled.

Someone listed the 2025 Increases in here somewhere.
It was in the ballpark of $155
If people want to piss and moan about that,
well go on and be a complainer over a 0.0041 % increase while Inflation was 37% :'P

I love my 2025 Lariat and absolutely recommend it. I think the price difference is totally worth it.

However, I cannot justify getting an XTL and upgrading it a month later - that sounds very wasteful to me. Once I buy a vehicle, I keep it for 10 years or more.

So if you can afford losing money on your XLT, then sure, go for it.

As for the faux leather seats vs cloth - the former is way more practical IMO. And comfortable. And good-looking.

I liked everything on the lariat except for the fake leather "ActiveX" seat material. When you get to over 110° even real leather without ventilation holes sucks, especially black like I had my previous Buick.
I have a 350 that has black leather seats with ventilation holes and they do have ventilation.
The fabric seats of the XLT and XL are far more practical fo me.

Why couldn't ford include the date on infotainment screen. My wife's 2016 Ford Escape with a 2-inch display still has the date.

$8500 dollars for vinyl seats, enough said. The 360 camera for me would be a waste of money for myself. I'm cussing Everytime I don't wipe the rear camera lens. I'm sure not going to pull over and run around my truck wiping camera lens off. The radio in my XLT is fine but if I wanted more like you said it can easily be upgraded aftermarket.

Me personally I would rather have the comfort of cloth seats and 8500 bucks in the bank. Then again that's just my opinion. I still can remember when vinyl was all that cars had. I either was burning my legs in the summer and my butt and backside sweating and wet because it didn't breathe or in the winter it was like sitting on ice. Not to mention sliding all over the place. For me it's a no brainier.

Best of luck in your decision. Everyone has and should have there own opinion because each of us have to live with it.

I went with the lariat because when I spec'd out an XLT hybrid with AWD, sliding rear window, bedliner, luxury packages, and a couple other add ones, I was getting very close the the Lariat pricing so it made sense to upgrade

The Lariat was only $3,000 more than your XLT+Lux.

I'll be honest - I think the XLT+Lux is the worst deal in the Maverick. Runs up to $38k and for another $3k the additions in the Lariat are massive.

I never had a problem sliding around on leather or pleather/vinyl seats. The SWEAT on my back and ass, usually kept me planted in place.

You just forgot what it was like, especially in the winter.

No I didn't. -27° drivers door froze shut. I got in on the passenger side sliding across the leather seats to the driver side. Shattering all of the plastic upright seat belt holders. 😂

I wouldn't call the ActiveX seats "tacky" per se but they aren't slippery when in them. Maybe if you were in the back but I'm not sliding around in these at all.

You must like vinyl seats or like sweating your butt and backside. Either way it's a personal choice. Me I think it's a far better deal with the XLT. Now if they offered cloth seats on the Lariat I would have to think s little more on it.

I'm just not going to live with vinyl seats on a daily basis, it's a deal breaker for myself. Myself I like comfort, thus wanting A/C and heat. Best of luck with your Lariat.
