Launch Passengers into space… if equipped with optional sunroof. Otherwise just make the gas petal stiffer for the lead foot diver mode.
Like a go-cart for hybrids. Slow without using brakes. One petal action etc. best at lower speeds or going down steep hillsides.

If you put it in neutral press the L button and open the door. The car will stay in neutral not switch to park.

Johnny the care care guy has a video on it about 2 to 3 months ago. Maggie his wife got a 23 hybrid Maverick and he stated to drive it all the time in low gear? I have done it around town and actually got better gas mileage and better regenerated braking with it. Have ran it a couple times on the highway but it scares me that it might do some kind of transmission damage. Hope this helps myself have been doing it about the last two and a half months

No! DO NOT drive in L position all the time. I'm sorry but that guy is not well educated.

Reserve L for going down steep grades.

It does not help you going up hills.
It does help slow you going down hills.

It does NOT help boost MPG.

It does put you, your truck, and your family in danger needlessly.
It slows you as good as brake pads but DOES NOT TURN ON THE BRAKE LAMPS.

Driving in L all the time is akin to driving without brake lamps, technically, a moving violation.

I read recently that the brake lights don't come on when using "L". The truck slows more aggressively with your foot off the accelerator and maybe a concern for some in heavy, city traffic.

Does help slow truck without the brakes lights, if thats a concern with your speed and a (L)aw man parked hidden off the road.
There is a spot where speed drops from 50 to 35 in a quarter mile. Helps there.

I was using "L" the past few weeks to see what was different about it and if it would benefit mileage.

Most of the time I used it, the truck slowed more aggressively (especially from around 50-25) and it automatically maximized the regen versus my having to watch the bar and the road at the same time. . . . The regen indicator was always at 100% because the software was monitoring the best throttle position (I assume). I did notice that at least once, the length of the regen and battery status bar extended well past the word 'Electric' in the driving coach, making me think the battery had a higher than usual charge.
I do think that having regen automatically maximize the battery's charge level does help with gas mileage as the truck has more electrical energy available and runs the motor longer.

Today, it did something different. I approached an intersection that I have used "L" to slow for previously but this time, the engine revs increased like a traditional transmission would do if you downshifted. This was the only time during the day that "L" behaved like that.
I am wondering if the state of the high voltage battery was fully charged and regen would not be useful so it was not done and the truck just 'downshifted' and slowed down.
Unfortunately, I was taken aback by the change and did not notice the state of the charge. Next time, I will be ready to look.

I have verified that the brake lights do not come on while using "L" (just like they don't when you simply take your foot off the gas) so I have been careful about using it with traffic behind me. It does slow the truck more aggressively than just letting off the throttle and somebody behind me who is 'less than attentive' might run into me.
As an FYI, Advanced Cruise Control will not engage the brake lights either when it slows the truck for slower traffic ahead.

Might want to change that Ford, it might be one reason why Mavericks are getting rear ended.

Yes. The engine revs in L when the battery is full. This is what happened Aherpa.

There is no wattage or state of charge or MPG benefit to using L vs. the brake pedal.

When slowing with the brake pedal just keep the needle off the "peg". Don't take it to full horizontal and you will regen 100%.... with the added benefit of brake lamps.

Thanks, I often wondered if the brake light came Advanced Cruise Control. It will completely stop you in traffic. Pretty scary if the brake lights do not light up. Class Action Lawsuit?
