I do have the following on my "recall/customer satifactory program":

Description
Replacement of exhaust gas heat recovery system if failed
Campaign#
24N04

Is that related you think? this campaign says it should give me a malfunction light which it didn't.. unless the temp light is considered MIL..
Also now thinking about it i remember I previously had a recall something with heated exhaust or something I can't remember what that was as it was a long time ago.. it was a programming recall..

I have a scanner at home I will check for codes this evening. unless my scanner can't read it.
Any decent scanner should be able to read Pending codes, that if it happens again within short enough window will turn on the MIL.
Don't Clear the pending code, or you may not get the MIL to get the recall done.

Good plan, and from comment given already, your recall matches.

Did you check your coolant reservoirs, particularly the one for the inverter? Just trying to figure why it would run hot in those temperatures.
** UPDATE

Just went out to check it, looks like engine reservoir is dead center between MIN and MAX so that's good. the hybrid coolant reservoir is right on the MIN maybe slightly below it.... definitely not empty

I actually found my scanner in the truck but its a shitty iphone bluetooth type scanner i couldn't get it to work right as it didn't even find the car..

My plan right now its just to drive home after work and see how it acts... as for the fluid I guess i should put a bit in since its on the MIN? will need to buy some... would that be the same fluid as for the engine coolant or its different?

Thanks everyone btw.. appreciate the help

Same coolant. The system technically has the capability to intermix the loops (there's actually three) if needed.

Same. Annoyingly only the dealers around here had this spec, if it matters to you.
Materials

NameSpecification
Motorcraft® Yellow Prediluted Antifreeze/Coolant
VC-13DL-G
WSS-M97B57-A2

Stop by Advanced/Autozone/O'Reilly's on way home - and request a code read even though no MIL is on.
Say something happened and you are curious what you need to buy, to make them happy.
Just make sure they don't clear it out of habit.

One of them does have a good system that lists the parts that deal with a code - of course they use that to sell you as much as possible, but still nice even when you know you aren't buying.

*** UPDATE 2

Just got off work, I have a mechanic co worker he works on all the company's cars, he helped me out with the scanner, he's got one of those fancy giant ones, he plugged it in and 0 codes stored....

looking at the fluid levels again looks like it went up a bit now its a little over the MIN I guess it circulated a little in the system when we run the truck.

So for now I'm heading out home and we'ill see how it goes..

Really sorry I had a long evening.. just got up and was about to post when I saw your msg :)

UPDATE - Drive home (about 1hr drive) was 100% normal no issues at all, no noises and no lights....

I hope it is but I feel like maybe because I was stuck in standstill traffic and it was cold the hybrid system got hot and it was just a one time thing....
With no codes In the system there's not a lot I can do at this point just monitor and see if it happens again I guess....

Thank you everyone for the help again and I will post to this thread In the future if there's any related updates!

I was thinking about how long a commute he would have that took over 16 hours in limp mode.

At almost 50 k on the clock, Ford wants you to buy one of those EVs which they can't unload.

You're probably the only one that has seen this weird alert. Maybe modify your announcement title to make it plain that its not '
the "Performance reduced to lower temperature"' fault, making it look like its some kind of failure that all kinds of people have. My bet is that you have a coolant leak that needs to be looked at by the dealer without announcing it.

Sounds like an issue with the exhaust gas heat exchanger to me.
