Clicking felt in gas pedal while on the highway

While on the highway yesterday doing 70mph, I kept feeling and hearing clicking coming from the gas pedal. I could feel it on my foot. It was relatively subtle but persistent and also didn't seem to be directly correlated to how hard I was pressing the pedal. There was a few dozen clicks, lasting a minute or two, then a minute where they stopped, then 2 more clicks, and then it was done. I was 10 minutes from home and thought about pulling over but nothing else seemed to be affected by it. I did a shorter city drive later in the day and had no issues. Has anyone else experienced this?
