If the 12 volt is down, the computer will not work. If the computer (Engine Control Module) isn't working, neither the electric traction battery nor the ICE will run.
No 12 volt, NO GO. P E R I O D
So, you jump the 12 volt to bring the whole system back to life. If the traction battery is flat. Walk or call Uber.

You might be a victim of the 12v battery drain issue if it keeps dying.

And yes, a lot of Hybrid owners can easily make the mistake of jumping using the black cap terminal and red cap terminal which blows a 100a ECM fuse.

I'm curious abound how a 12 volt jump start will start the Mav as the Hybrid battery is a high voltage battery. Not sure I believe the high voltage battery starts the ICE.
The 12v "jump start" will provide dc current 12v+ to the 12v buss (or at least) to the power unit that could power the computer and close the high voltage relays so that the 3 phase hv current can spin the starter within the trans axle. The high voltage battery should have enough charge to spin the starter. If it does not then I expect either a dealer accessable hv post but would lean to the caps being able to handle several spins of the ice if fully charged. I have put a voltage meter/USB charger in my dash power port. It shows no voltage until the start/stop button is pushed which indicates a division in the bus as the doors radio dash &? Are active and the button push activates the DC relay from the hv battery as the voltage meter displays 14.7v (on mine) dash power point. When I push the start/stop button to exit the vehicle the meter will either continue at 14.7 or 12.6 or 12.7. I believe (just guessing) that if it's showing less than 12.4 or probably 12.5 the trickle charge will be initiated at anytime as long as the sos of the hvb is above it's deep sleep trigger sos at which time the 12v would shortly become depleted. The hvb should have for several weeks or months enough charge to spin the starter when 12+v are applied to the jump start post (which since it is threaded is it designed for a permanent attachment out either trickle charger or perhaps since it is rather hard to access, a jump start insulated plug???

Watch a video explaining how a Toyota/Ford/Chrysler hybrid transaxle works, then it will make more sense.

Cheers.

Well one thing is for sure and that’s there is no battery under the hood of the HYBRID Maverick.

Show me the part number for a Maverick hybrid starter and /or solenoid. There is non.
The ICE is started by the HVB thru the planetary gears in the transmission.

I too would enjoy seeing the prints of the system, my 'sense' is that the 12V battery under the rear seat drives the relays, powers the PCM/computer, assists in ICE starting, etc. and is isolated from the caps, but I honestly don't know.

take care

.
I would also like detail on the system. I think the caps are isolated totally from the 12v system and function to smooth the current from the 3phase motor/gens when they are generating current for the inverter/converter. The positive jump post (should?) Possibly control a second relay to close contacts of hv battery. I am worried about using jump post if lights and radio and etc are on and if too much current is dumped onto the 12v bus?

The 12V battery that runs the hybrid truck is under the back seat, not under the hood. The connections for jump starting the this battery are under the hood. After sitting for 14 days the battery was not probably dead but the truck was in deep sleep mode. The truck does this to conserve the battery and jump starting is a method to wake it up.
