My Mav sat for two weeks in the Texas heat and the battery was dead when I went to start it. Totally.. Door locks wouldn’t even open. I’m posting to tell hybrid owners to follow the owners manual directions or watch the YouTube video on jumping a Maverick Hybrid. There’s a little red cover on the positive bolt in the lower front of the battery. The negative post is on the upper right inside fender. Once I jump started it, I drove it for half an hour. Parked it and three hours later it was dead again. Jumped it again, drove it for half an hour, parked it and a day later it started right up. Only 150 miles on it. Engine light is on indicating an emissions problem as well. I may be in for a visit to my dealer if it is still on Monday.

Confused, the correct way to jump start a hybrid is from the engine compartment, not from the (lower front) of the 12v battery which is under the rear seat..

The battery that starts the car is under the hood, just like every other car. But, as a hybrid, you must jump it correctly. Instructions are in the owners manual plus in a wry good YouTube video on “How to Jumpstart a Maverick Hybrid.” Don’t mess with the battery that powers the hybrid when it’s running.

It sounds like you did it correctly. I haven't been jumped, but have successfully jumped other cars using the points you described under the hood.
I hope the issue either resolves itself or Ford is able to help; keep us updated.

There are a lot of cars that the 12V battery is NOT Under the hood. The Maverick (hybrid) is one of them. My Prius 12V battery is in the trunk. You jumped it correctly, but you’re mistaken about the location of battery.

No, Your Hybrid's starting battery is under your rear seat on the passenger side. Please take a look.

The correct 'pin' for jumping the truck is under the hood and shown in the owner's manual as depicted above in post #3.

Both "Pin A' (+12VDC) and Pin B (ground located on fender) are under the hood...

As an aside (and NOTHING to do with jump starting a truck) , the Hybrid battery powering the electric motor resides under the truck and is shielded.

good luck

Don't mess with the battery that powers the hybrid even when it's not running!

The 12v under the rear seat is used to activate the high voltage battery relays which then is used to start the battery. It would be of interest to see diagram of the 12v "jumper" pin to see exactly how it's wired into the system. Is it wired directly to the high voltage relays and the computer through a DC voltage adjustment? Or Is it wired to also accumulate a charge into the capacitor which could then be used to partially charge the high voltage battery in bursts or could the capacitors be used to provide current to the starter/generator motor?

Bought this at Harbor Freight. Might be a good 75 dollar investment.

I too would enjoy seeing the prints of the system, my 'sense' is that the 12V battery under the rear seat drives the relays, powers the PCM/computer, assists in ICE starting, etc. and is isolated from the caps, but I honestly don't know.

take care

That's not true. The 12v is under the rear seat. Pop the cover off and you can see for yourself

12 volt battery under the back seat powers computer and dash lights and radio.

The gasoline engine in the hybrid is STARTED by the BIG TRACTION BATTERY.
The 12 volt under the back seat DOES NOT "start" the vehicle.

If I am wrong, please quote your source, and I will shut up.

I'm curious abound how a 12 volt jump start will start the Mav as the Hybrid battery is a high voltage battery. Not sure I believe the high voltage battery starts the ICE.
