I'll give Nissan some credit. They do make a good-looking mid-size truck. It looks like a carbon-copy of the third-gen Tacoma but in a good way. And just like the aforementioned Tacoma, it has a naturally aspirated V-6 which will be great for reliability and simplicity but terrible on fuel economy. Expect numbers in the mid-teens. But, I'm sure that's a worthy payoff for having more truck for your buck. Hey, that rhymes :p

I test drove one of these right when it first came out in late 2021. I have to say, I was very underwhelmed. The ride is bouncy and jittery, the steering rack is beyond heavy, the interior is mediocre and the back seat space is cramped.

That's why I went the Maverick route. It drives like a car so in essence, comfortable and compliant. Steering feel is well weighted, the interior is spunky, fuel economy is excellent and the back seat space is better than any mid-size truck out there.

But, to each their own. As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. Since I see you're in snow country, may I suggest you get your frame undercoated? Just to avoid any potential frame rot.

I first want to thank everyone that has or is on this forum. I have been on here since 2022 learning about the Mavericks.
I saw last year a preview of a different restyled truck not much more in price than a Lariat and others are getting for the 2025 model year. . I only drive 5 miles to work so I started looking for this model year truck and I had a great offer on trading in my 2022 Ford Xlt FX4 AWD Maverick. It had 4k tow , and luxury package also. It had 21,400 miles on it.

This last Saturday I picked up a 2025 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x in Boulder grey pearl with convenience package. It has spray in bed liner, heated seats and steering, 12.2 screen, locking differential, surround cameras, adaptive cruise, locking tailgate, hill descent, 400 watt inverter in bed, 2 120 outlets inside, push button start, wireless phone charger, wireless car play, led lights in the bed, under seat rear storage.
One of the best features is a naturally aspirated 3.8 liter making 310 hp. This is a proven combination with the 9 speed automatic.
This is the only mid size without a turbo now. Looks super easy to work on in the future under the hood. Which has hood struts.
I feel more safer in the bigger Frontier than the Maverick. Plus there is more inside room and the bed is bigger.

I know I won’t get the mpg’s I was getting in the Maverick but it’s well worth it.
The bed on the Maverick was 33 cubic feet and this is 40.
I know what some are thinking Nissan having issues, but that’s the time to make a deal.
$45,000 out the door, minus my trade.
I received in the 20’s for my Maverick and had them throw in all weather mats. And I had a 2” lift on it and was going to take it off to sell it and didn’t have to. They didn’t seem to mind about it.
Good luck to all and thanks for all the learning, advice, and enthusiasm.

Oh and I traded it in with the back up camera recall. Happy I didn’t have to go to dealer again for another one.

Did you consider the 6 foot bed?
Do you like the off road style step rails?

Honda Ridgeline midsize truck still has naturally aspirated V6.

More room is debatable. Below are the specs. I know I have a very difficult time getting in and out of my friends Frontier. Especially if I'm getting in and out the back seat and for me it seems a lot less leg room in the back seat.

I appreciate the low height ingress and egress on the Ford Maverick because of the unitized body. That's just me because of health reasons and coming from a Ford F150, I really appreciate the Ford Maverick.

As long as your happy that's all that matters best of luck with your new truck. My friend is happy with his but can not say enough about my Maverick everytime we go somewhere and I drive. I think he likes my Maverick, just a guess.

Specific dimensions (approximate):
  • Nissan Frontier:
    • Front Legroom: 42.3 inches

    • Rear Legroom: 33.2 inches

    • Front Headroom: 39.9 inches

    • Rear Headroom: 38.6 inches
  • Ford Maverick:
    • Front Legroom: 42.8 inches

    • Rear Legroom: 35.9 inches (hybrid) or 36.9 inches (gas)

    • Front Headroom: 38 inches

    • Rear Headroom: 39.5 inches

I sat in both and feels and looks like there is more space on the rear floor board. I am 6’2 and never hit the ceiling in the back seat.
I believe you can’t go just what is reported online for measurements. Design on each vehicle is different.

On the bed I really want to stick with the 5’ bed due to it still being bigger than the Maverick. It is 33 cubic feet versus 40. The truck is 10” longer than the Maverick and the 6’ bed woul have been longer.
Love the step rails. Especially my 5’2 wife. Supposed to act like a guard also for off roading.

Congrats. I’ve spent many of hours looking at the Frontier Pro4X. What it came down to for me was efficiency and interior room.

You don’t drive much and the interior fits you so this sounds like a good match. Enjoy!

Dah, yes and the back seat in the frontier unless the 25 refresh fixed it is very uncomfortable. Again best of luck with your decision and truck. It's always nice to get a new vehicle just is bad to spread inaccurate information. The specs not the reported online is as accurate as you can get. Unfortunately it doesn't represent how comfortable the position, padding etc. is, I left that portion out on my first post. Seeing that you disagree and that is fine. I will also add I will not ride in the backseat of his Frontier again.. That says a lot.

The mav is the only one that fits my garage. A patio home for two old people, 400 sq foot garage, 2bd, 2bt, and they could not put an extra two feet on the garage?

My garage is too small as they all are. 21' wide by 29' deep but I lose 26" of depth due to cabinets on one side and about the same on other side with a freezer and another cabinet. Then there is the 13' wide x 24' deep single car/storage side that has a 5' x 10' bath with shower. Should have built at least an additional 13' wide additional bay as the 4100 sqft house doesn't have enough storage. But the property tax would have been too high.

I know the first thing the Ratti's ride guy said the new Frontier drove so heavy like a school bus- Sweet looking rig and I did have interest but easily got to $46 k- Just to get heated options and zero chance of it fitting in our garage. Maverick is still a fun easy drive around town and yes its spunky -

I took a look at the Frontier originally before I ordered the MY25 Mav, and the deciding factors for me were:

1) size. The Frontier would have been a really tight squeeze in my garage, if it would have fit at all.
2) economy. The Maverick destroys the Frontier in fuel economy, even as the ecoboost model.
3) price. to get the same options as I ordered on the Maverick, the Frontier was easily $10k more. At that point, if I had wanted "more truck" I would have gone with the Ranger, I think.
