So, with the issues of these gas tanks is it an issue with assembling problem or an issue how these tanks were made by a vender? Install ford employee mistake or a manufacturer problem?

Have they been back building the Mavericks in full production or are they waiting for tanks to replace the faulty ones.

Thanks

It was an isolated manufacturing fault that did not interrupt ongoing production at large.

Description of the Cause :
The supplier’s mold shuttle experienced a stoppage after a sudden power outage. When power was restored, there was a misalignment between mold and extruded sheets. This misalignment caused a shift of wall thickness on the fuel tank (open pinch).

My 2024 has been stuck in production since March 4th - went into ā€œQuality Assurance Holdā€ on March 12th.

Just called customer service and it’s still on hold status at factory today unfortunately. They couldn’t provide more information besides that.

Delivery is still ā€œscheduledā€ for 3/24 in their system - that’s wishful thinking! šŸ˜‚

Did that have anything to do with the gas tank?

No idea - as technically it was built the week after the gas tank production issue. But the timing makes it seem related.

The ford rep couldn’t provide any specific info.

The affected units were produced in mid-/late-January. March 8th is just when the notice was filed with the NHTSA.

Just speculation on my part, but I was told they pulled every available spare gas tank to fix the ones they caught at the factory before they shipped. Maybe they didn't have enough to cover all the ones they caught at the factory? Though being they caught it in February, you're probably pretty safe.

Mine's currently sitting at a depot in Ohio waiting for them to make more but they're saying they're not planning on having any until basically the end of the MY run in Q4 2024.My dealer put in a replacement order for mine, as all indications he got was the only way to get a new gas tank in less than six months is to buy the rest of the truck with it.
