I can't imagine an elk, but this deer hit cost over $8,000 to fix and took two months to gather all the parts. Luckily, I had procrastinated and hadn't sold my other car yet and had a drive.I had that issue 2 years ago in a Tacoma - only it was an Elk in the first snow and that happened to be the first night I drove home... It took that long at the dealership that I had to get some food after and wasn't until almost 7pm that I started the 120 mile journey back home.
I got lucky, only the rear drivers side quarter panel (bed panel?) needed replaced.
First animal I've ever hit in 22 years of driving.
Sorry you had that experience too. I've also had to put a deer down after someone hit it close to my house before. At least the Elk that caught me was still kicking... Probably did more damage to my truck than to the Elk.
Anyways...

Sorry, sharing is caring.
I will continue to enjoy driving my 2023 XLT hybrid. I think it is a great vehicle for the money. I am concerned about the issues but I am not worried. If it ever starts having problems it will be brought to the dealer for repair. I'm fortunate that I am retired and have another vehicle to drive. I understand that if it is your only vehicle that is a huge problem.be aware of the possible problem but don't panic based on click bait articles or exaggerated and hysterical forum posts. best numbers I've seen is 28 documented fires on effected vehicles (Maverick, Escape, Corsair) including only 5 since the first recall was completed.
I don't know the actual hybrid sales numbers but 28 is a darned small percentage, 5 is minuscule.
I had a Hyundai Kona subject to recall. Possible fire. At the time they had no fix. At 10,000 I traded for a Civic. I Like the Civic better than the Kona. I think I am going to like the Mav more than the Civic!Last year 800,000 Mercedes owners were warned about possible engine fire. Many cars have those type of recalls. Don't worry unless the report is 800,000 Mercedes engines catch fire. Or 100,000 Maverick engines catch fire.
Lol, I thought that was my post until I saw Honda CivicI had a Hyundai Kona subject to recall. Possible fire. At the time they had no fix. At 10,000 I traded for a Civic. I Like the Civic better than the Kona. I think I am going to like the Mav more than the Civic!
They didn’t call it “Exploder” for nothing! That number is irrelevant. What matters is the percentage of at risk engines across the total produced.
If 125k hybrids (both Escapes and Mavericks) are effected by the recall, and a total of roughly 316k for the Escapes and Mavericks were produced, that means that 40% of the total vehicles produced are effected. If you have just the hybrid numbers for production that percentage will increase drastically because it's safe to assume that hybrids only accounted for probably less than 1/3rd the total production numbers.
I did see that in q3 for 2022 the Escape Hybrids only produced 7500... so an estimation of 7500x4 (for each quarter) is 30k. 30k total Hybrid Escapes in a year and we are now in 2023, so another 15k for half this year. 45k total Escape Hybrids since 2022. My estimation of 1/3rd checks out there so let's do the Mavericks next.
75,000 total Mavericks produced with an estimated 1/3rd of that to be Hybrids = 25k. Account for the same level of production but only half the year so far in 2023 = 12,500. So far since 2022 that means 37,500k total.
That estimation equals 82,500 for the Maverick and Escape Hybrids total, and it's probably more than were actually produced. I'm being generous and giving them 1/3rd.
82,500 out of the estimated 125k effected by the recall is 66%.
66% of vehicles FORD produced have a high risk of grenading themselves and catching fire.
Feel free to check my math. If anyone can provide actual Hybrid numbers, I'd love to crunch them.
I'd say the bad reputation is well earned for 66% and yes, it's becoming more common that people are hearing about it for that reason.
I was in this mode when I saw all the recalls and issues as well but today I got hit with the ultimate whammy. Normally cruising on the high way on a nice sunny day I get a message on the dash saying "front camera fault. service required"...Doesn’t bother me. I love mine and have zero issues. Sorry, that sucks. Hopefully it’s a quick fix.I was in this mode when I saw all the recalls and issues as well but today I got hit with the ultimate whammy. Normally cruising on the high way on a nice sunny day I get a message on the dash saying "front camera fault. service required"...
Great. Now AAC, collision doesnt work and I get this awful message that keeps popping up every 5 minutes. Used to think the only thing wrong with this car was Ford's dealership networks but now I got hit with the Maverick issues. Dont think ill be buying Ford again...
My friend has a Maverick and only encountered an air bag problem. Hopefully, tjey will get the bugs fixed before the warranty expires.Sorry, that sucks. Hopefully it’s a quick fix.
Send it to Russia lolPlease sell your Maverick fast and cheap before it explodes!!!! You can thank me later, hahaha!!!!
I wouldn't be so miffed if it didnt mean I would have to return to the hells cape that is my local ford dealership! I honestly love alot of the cars Ford makes but almost every dealership in my area is full of dirt bag sales men and service people who never make an effort to follow up.Sorry, that sucks. Hopefully it’s a quick fix.
Yes, my local dealer is a huge nose bleed! Salesman were horrible. Service department charged me $300 to do a recall-1999 Ford Windstar rear axle replacement. I was so fed up with them I paid it. It was my wife's vehicle that my kids ride in. Just wanted it done.I wouldn't be so miffed if it didnt mean I would have to return to the hells cape that is my local ford dealership!
