Unfortunately I can relate. This little ding was $4K including a new tire and rim. But now I do have a truly full size spare with a matching rim. Hit by road debris in the middle of Utah on I-15 going 80 pulling my motorcycle on a trailer. Never saw what it was, just a loud bang.

Based on the photo the shape is very round. Something that has been happening in my area is kids shooting golf balls from a PVC cannon at cars on the highway.

Hahaha, that's exactly what my wife said (having to look at it every time you walk up). But, she DID mention going to look at that new clone at a nearby dealer,,,,,,

When I get back from my current trip, I'll stop by a PDR shop and see what they say.

At 11 months old it's still a new truck.
If it were me, I wouldn't dick around trying to DIY. After spending the time and the money to fix it yourself and still being able to see it. What's the point?

11 months old, 23K miles, today I'm driving down I-57 and hear this "boom". Somehow I got hit by a rock (I think) on the lower part of the drivers-side rear door. Can't remember if I was getting passed at the time, I may pull the chip from my dashcam and see if I can find the moment of impact. So much for parking out in the boonies of parking lots, to get this while rolling at 75mph.

IDK if you've heard that greek tale about eagles dropping tortoises on rocks. Well apparently some crows, magpies, seagulls, birds of prey etc will do the same to other bird eggs and reptile eggs that they can't peck through easily.... take it up high and drop it on something solid.... so sometimes that something solid is a road and sometimes that "egg" is a golfball.

Yep, it's totally totaled. Better put it out on the scrap heap and sell it for parts. Sorry you got dinged after being so careful. It happens to the best (and worst) of us.

At least not your fault. I made the mistake of leaving the pin for my hitch on my bumper this morning. Then opened the tail gate. I was going to put it in the bed cubby. I now have a dent and a 1" scratch in the paint.
In the short term, I'm going to buy some touch up paint. I've had this truck for only 2500 miles and 5 months.

Not THAT noticeable. But may see what I can get quoted for PDR.

That's difficult to believe a dent in the side going 75 on the interstate, it would take a lot of force to get a dent like that unless something were thrown from the side at good speed, and no paint damage by the looks so it wasn't a rock, more like a hard ball or something. Anyway a good pdr person can remove that with probably 90 to 95 % original as before.
