Distracted for sure, the cars themselves are distracting. The stuff on our info-tainment screens is distracting, buttons without tactile feel require eyes to divert from the road.

Not to mention phones, people can't walk without being distracted.
- Ding-a-ling, offer for you
- Ding-a-ling, your SO needs something that otherwise could have waited until you're home.
- Ding-a-ling, your kid wants a ride to their friends
- Ding-a-ling, work, work, work, work, work

The whole world is constantly playing with their Ding-a-lings. Make sure you protect your rear ends 😂.
I'm going to create an app that repeats your driver's windshield view on your phone. I'll be rich, and the NHTSA will end up requiring it on all cars and drivers. At which point people will switch to laptops

I did it driving truck, and alot of other truckers did it, too.

Then you have to remember to turn the flashers back off once the traffic gets back up to speed. Doh! 😏

I personally noticed alot of aggressive driving during the pandemic, when traffic volumes dropped, atleast locally. People driving very fast in residential areas. It never seemed like it went back to what I thought was normal. Maybe I'm just getting older, crotchetier and it's not as different as it feels to me?

There are alot of aggressive, distracted, and angry drivers out there, and I know that's not just in my head.
Agree. Friends of mine have been hit twice with totaled vehicles by road ragers and nearly several more times by phone wielding drivers.

Last month while encountering slowed traffic in New Mexico, a driver waving a gun used the road shoulder to pass a line of traffic .

It’s getting weird on the roads.

Something I've always noticed. Sometimes you have to squint and ask yourself "Brakes? Or Indicator?" Especially on dirty vehicles.

Even some new safer vehicles have odd choices for front and rear indicators and lights. Having no universal standard is a shame.
I agree. Rear turn indicator lamps should be amber.

Ever since I got rear-ended while in my sister’s car (the dumbass kid said “I looked up and you were right there!!”), when I’m braking or stopped at a light, I tap the brakes a few times until I can see that the idiot behind me is slowing down.

Whenever you hit your brakes, always check the rear-view mirror to see what’s coming.
Installed a third brake light that flashes 4x when activated. Often while stopped I’ll watch a distracted driver look up from a phone and look surprised when finally noticing the brake lights. Recently a police officer skidded to a stop narrowly avoiding hitting the truck. I attempted to get her attention to get her name but she took off. Reported her car # to the department but have not heard from them. No surprise.

Approaching a slowdown, I always tap the brakes 3 times lightly just to wake up the person behind me. Because let's be honest, all of us are on autopilot sometimes. I kind of wish brake lights had a three flash thing when first applied.

Rear end collisions are now the predominant accident in the USA. It doesn't take much of a brain to know why.

I wouldn't cast shade on the Maverick because it crumples in a collision. That's what it was designed to do. Sacrifice itself to protect you.
Install a bulb that flashes several times upon activation into the third brake light.

Yeah I just set it at my temperature and leave it. Turning it higher generally doesn't make it warm up much faster anyway, if at all. Just tells it when to stop.
Try telling this to my spouse. ;)

Boo.

Downside of the unibody is it is too expensive to fix. In most states, the cost simply exceeds what is legally allowable.

I got a 2023 and recently was rear ended. The crash happened at pretty low speed I was going about 15mph and slowing down and driver was going about double the speed. Well the body was pushed and the passenger into the passenger rear door opening. Anyhow the truck being totaled. The Unibody is bent. The truck don’t hold up to well in a crash. Anyone else have issues.

That's why Unibody was invented to give cushion and collapse at a given rate to reduce injury's. It did it's job. Years ago when they had frames vehicles climbed right over them and the body's were paper thin.
