I work in aviation engineering and yeah engineers aren't designing new parts for one offs. If that's really the case I wouldn't be surprised to see a recall or at the least a tech bulletin saying if you encounter this issue replace harness with the new design. Holding out hope that it's not the same issue because I really like my truck. I've been wanting to buy one for 16 years and finally was in a position to this year.

Yes, I have an update. Ford engineers finally determined that it was a 12 V battery wiring harness issue. The engineers are currently developing a fix, then need to manufacture the new harness. Service has had my truck for a month now and I was quoted anywhere from 3 to 6 months until I get my truck back. Since your issue sounds somewhat similar to the issue my truck is having, have your dealership reach out to future Ford in Sacramento. They may share information
3-6 months?? They better give you another vehicle in the meantime...

Jesus that sucks sorry you're going through that. I won't be able to get mine to the dealer until Monday since they're closed. If they come at me with a 3 to 6 month estimate they'll unfortunately be buying it back. That would be a shame because up until today I've really been enjoying the thing.
Can you update the thread or dm me if you do a buyback? Curious to know what kind of offer they give you.

We’ll…I have a build date for my lightning for mid aug. Depending on how it plays out, I’ll do a buy back or wait for the truck and sell it.

I sure will. It went to the dealer today haven't heard anything beyond the initial call after it arrived.

I check on this forum regularly. While it is impossible to know what kind of sample size we are talking about (people might come here only to report problems), it seems like this dead truck/wiring harness thing is happening way more than is reasonable on the hybrid.

I really hope this looks more common than it is - but as another poster remarked if Ford tells me it is going to be months to fix my truck they will be buying it back. Unless they hand me the keys to something really sweet to drive while I'm waiting. Because the law says more than 30 business days to fix a vehicle under warranty is NOT ok.

I agree. My truck has been built and will be delivered in 4 weeks. I am also concern about this.

So got my first update today. I've been assigned a Ford rep who's supposed to work between me and the dealership. She confirmed it is the wiring harness issue and the part is on back order. No eta but she said the service department is investigating a possible temporary fix. I didn't ask for details on the temporary fix because from talking to her i think shes just a customer service rep and wouldnt know about that to give an informed answer. I'm supposed to get a call back Friday with further updates. If they confirm that they're going to do a temp fix I'll talk to the service manager to find out exactly what they're doing.

I'm glad I found this thread to gauge the hybrid production delays. There must be an internal directive to QA the wiring harness with an OBD tool and/or multimeter as well as a visual inspection of defective and poor soldering points where wiring is connected to reported failures.

According to FordVideoGuy, ford is putting a clause in the sales contract of Lightnings, that you will not transfer ownership of the vehicle within 12 months of taking ownership. or are you talking about selling your Mav once your Lightning comes in?

According to FordVideoGuy, ford is putting a clause in the sales contract of Lightnings, that you will not transfer ownership of the vehicle within 12 months of taking ownership. or are you talking about selling your Mav once your Lightning comes in?
Sell the Mav, keep the lightning

I received a call last Wednesday from the service dept telling me I should buy a lottery ticket and that my part was in. He went on to say they're busy right now and should be getting to it the following Monday (yesterday). When I called to ensure that was going to be the case yesterday and to get a better clue as to when I may have my truck back I was told the end of this week.
