Good Morning,

Recently came across a thread and a few users stated that the space inside the Maverick is a bit limited. Is it cramped?

How would it be for a young family of 4? Obviously, I would have it a while but thinking toddler ages to teen ages and in between.

I have an almost 3 year old in a front facing car seat. It works fine for us. If we had another kid it would be too cramped for me, especially if one of those kids was rear facing. Some have made it work but it wouldn’t do it for me.

4 medium sized adults - No problem - can throw some smaller items in the under seat bins - etc. 5th person ain't gonna be liking that rear middle though.

We're a family of 4; I'm 6'1", wife is 5'8", and taller than average 10 and 7 year olds. The Maverick has more interior space than our VW jetta. We recently went on a 600 mile road trip with 5 (adding my wife's 6'1" best friend in the back) and heard no complaints.

I don't have my Mav yet but the interior dimensions when I compared the specs should be a little bigger than my current SUV (2008 Kia Sorento). My family of 4 fit without issues. Im 6,1 my wife is 5,7 and my 5 and 6 year old kids are both tall and have fit growing up with back, front and now booster seats. So you should have no issues with the Maverick!

Probably was my thread on the test drives. My concern was my wife's mobility issues, how far she needs to push her seat back to get in and out, and what that means for someone behind her. I think overall it would be fine in most situations, and better than many vehicles out there.

reviews are great as part of thorough research, but this is really a very subjective issue. There are enough Mavericks for sale out there now (and will be more by end of year) that you should be able to find 1 to go sit in before making any kind of decision to buy. Keep in mind, there are deadlines for ordering and there WILL be waits, probably LONG waits and multiple date changes along the way that will make it hard for you to plan when you would actually get your Maverick. Some people have tied their trade in values and other financial decisions in their life to timing of actually receiving their Mavericks and there are lots of stories of frustration and stress from doing that.

So my advice would be, if you really think the Maverick could work for you and your family based on research and specs- go find 1 at a dealer and check it out in person so you know exactly what you are getting into. If it still looks viable then you can decide if you want to order and wait, or possibly find 1 at a dealer or in transit that you could buy right away. But be advised you will most likely have to pay above MSRP to get 1 from a dealer without ordering and waiting.

Good luck!

Great advice. Unfortunately, I live by one Ford dealer and they do not have a Maverick in currently.

Family of five here. One in rear facing, one in booster and one in the middle. No problems for us. Survived a 6 hour drive both ways this summer. Has more/similar space to my 15 Colorado I traded in.

I have had my 4 year old in a front facing car seat in the Maverick. I'm 5' 10" and I do not think it would have worked with her behind me. If you don't mind scooting your seat a little closer to the steering wheel it would work, but it would not be comfortable for me. We had her setup behind my wife and that worked fine.

I would say go ahead and order one, and when you test drive just make sure to bring the whole family and see how everyone fits. Everyone has their own tolerance for how packed in they are ok with. Can you fit 4 or even 5 in the Maverick? Sure you can, but depending on the peoples size and the size of the car seats, it may or may not work for your family.

expand your search area and make a day trip out of it. Some people that bought Mavericks sight unseen wished they had seen 1 in person after waiting many months for it to arrive. Personally I won't buy a vehicle without driving 1 1st and climbing all over it.

The space inside the Maverick is great!!! We are a family of 4. I’m 5’10 my wife 5’7 and I have 2 crazy boys no issue at all with space. We have taken plenty of Road trips and not once did they complain like when we would take trips in cars. Actually the best part of this truck being on the smaller side is my boys can open the doors and get them themselves buckled and ready to roll with out me having to do much but unlock the doors. I must say this is a great family truck, I don’t feel short changed with interior space at all.

This is super comforting to read! I currently have a 2017 Kia Sorento, and with comparing specs, I knew it would be close but am glad to hear that you figured it to probably be more room for you.
