I'll say this. I'm 6'. My 14yo son is about 5'4. I need to move the seat up closer to the wheel than I like for him to sit behind me. Fine for around town would not want it that way for long trip. Leg room was fine for me but I was a bit cramped on the wheel itself.

Front is roomy like an SUV but back is a bit more cramped like a sedan. adult size wont want to be in back more than a couple hours tops. Also, if noise sensitive, rear speakers are right by rear passenger head. have to turn them off with my son.

This is super comforting to read! I currently have a 2017 Kia Sorento, and with comparing specs, I knew it would be close but am glad to hear that you figured it to probably be more room for you.
My 2008 Sorento is a lot smaller than your 2017 so just remember that. Today my 2008 would be considered a compact SUV.

It is not cavernous like a F-150 Lightning, but for a vehicle of its diminutive size (comparatively), the Maverick has plenty of entire space and is comfortable for long road trips.

My family vehicles for a family of 4 are an Explorer and a crew cab Superduty pickup. Maverick will be the urban errand runner.

Yeah... I just realized that after posting so I decided to go back though and compare specs again (it's been 6 months or more since I have) and the Maverick cabin space WILL be slightly less than what I have but it should be manageable.

Head room (Front)
2017 Sorento: 39.5
Maverick: 40.3

Head room (rear)
2017 Sorento: 39.3
Maverick: 39.6

Hip room (Front)
2017 Sorento: 56.7
Maverick: 55.4

Hip room (rear)
2017 Sorento: 56.4
Maverick: 54.1

Shoulder room (Front)
2017 Sorento: 59.1
Maverick: 57.3

Shoulder room (rear)
2017 Sorento: 58
Maverick: 55.6

Max Leg room (Front)
2017 Sorento: 44.1
Maverick: 42.8

Leg room (rear)
2017 Sorento: 39.4
Maverick: 35.9

The hip and shoulder room difference are a non-issue. The leg room is definitely tighter, but right now I know my seat isn't all the way back and the rear facing car seat is behind my seat (drivers). If I switch the car seats, front facing behind drivers and rear facing behind passenger, when I get my Maverick, I should be able to maintain my current comfort level.

Good Morning,

Recently came across a thread and a few users stated that the space inside the Maverick is a bit limited. Is it cramped?

How would it be for a young family of 4? Obviously, I would have it a while but thinking toddler ages to teen ages and in between.
I've had my XLT since May 26, and so far I've taken a couple of trips from Colorado Springs to Albuquerque and back and Colorado Springs to Cheyenne, WY and back. To Albuquerque we had an adult and a child in a car seat, and they had no problems for the 5.5 hour trip. And back from Wyoming we had our 2 granddaughters in car seat in the back, and again, plenty of room. If it comes to having some luggage too, we had our equipped with trifold locking tonneau cover, so we put their suitcases and scooters in the back. We also put a lot of their stuff under the rear seat. Very spacious.

If you have rear facers - It might be tight (especially if the people in front are taller). If everyone is forward facing, it shouldn't be an issue.

I am 6'3'' and sat in a Maverick for the first time the other day. With the driver's seat in a comfortable position, maybe even slightly farther back than it needed to be, I could fit in the back seat, but wouldn't' be comfortable for a longer trip. If both driver and passengers are under 6ft, I think it'd be perfectly fine.

Go sit in a Bronco Sport and see if that works. They are very close interior wise. The Mavericks are hard to find at dealers to try out but usually they have a Bronco Sport or two.

I guess I'm coming from a different point of view- Compared to an Odyssey or an F-150 the Maverick backseat is tiny.

But it cracks me up how everyone picks SUVs over minivans, there's no comparison for interior space. I have a Civic, Odyssey, and Miata right now. I parked at work next to a Maverick last Friday and peeked in the windows. They had a front-facing carseat on the driver side and it was very close to the front seat. (gotta love when the kids just keep kicking when they're bored!)

The Mav backseat looks more upright/ uncomfortable than our Civic backseat. Even though Civic puts legs forward more , there is more room for legs than the sitting straight up Maverick.

Physical size is decent, but my only gripe is that if you have only a single carseat you've just nuked your only "weatherproof storage" which is the tub under the rear seat. I know they were keeping costs down, but not having a 60/40 split bench is a huge oversight. Before anyone says tonneau cover, the storage is right there and it's a shame to not be able to use it due to a simple oversight.

I drove my band from Chicago to Indianapolis and back without issue. I'm 6'3" and the guys in the backseat were 5'10" and 6'.
My seat was a little forward from where I'd normally have it, but still comfortable for 3+ hours each way.

I happen to have a young family of four and weve done a few road trips with the maverick. Its tight for sure. Especially if youre a bigger person. My wife and i are both under 6’ tall and thin. I would not suggest this truck as your every day family vehicle. But for the occasional camping trip, its perfect. By comparison our family car is a kia sorento. Mav is tight in comparison. Doable. But tight.
