it's a truck people. If you bought it knowing and accepting this and planned to use it like a truck for actual truck things- these little dings and scratches are just part of ownership and no big deal. If, on the other hand, you bought it because of the car like interior and use it as a family people mover more than anything else- the normal wear and tear will probably bother you more. If you bought it because it was way cheaper than a comparable Civic, Corrolla, Kia, etc. sedan, but still fills all your needs like a more expensive sedan, it will be a mindset adjustment how much to let this stuff bother you.

So because it's a truck, we should overlook manufacturing defects?

What's next? Getting trucks with no exterior paint because, well, it's a truck and it'll scratch anyway?

Ford knew this was an issue and they decided to give all owners the middle finger anyway.

If you don't care about quality for your dollars, that's fine. But why tell those of us that do that we shouldn't care?

Manufacturing defect? I don't recall reading that in any of the dozen plus glowing test reviews on the Maverick- quite the opposite where there was universal praise for them developing creative alternative designs for the plastic instead of the hard touch plastic surfaces everyone hates in other economy vehicles. Sounds like you never owned an economy car before. Hey maybe you can start "a petition" complaining to Ford about "giving all owners the middle finger"? If you pitch a big enough hissy fit, maybe they'll feel guilty and gift you a bag of FITS accessories 🙃

I have a 2022 2.0 Lariat that I has blemishes/scratch/burr marks on upper driver door panel. My dealer said I damaged the panel and is not a quality issue. I am finding more imperfections in the door materials. I worked in manufacturing for many years and I can say with confidence this is a quality materials issue. I love my maverick. Excellent build quality for the price. But I am not confident that the interior materials will hold up under medium-heavy use. I've been a Ford customer for 50 years, I expect that someone from Ford is monitoring this forum and will provide feedback.
Hi there, Ike. I can look into these door panel blemishes and scratches found on your Maverick on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership name/location?

I do understand that trucks will take a beating and not to get OCD over it. But Ford is targeting the space to go after compact truck space and fill the void of not having sedans. I’m old guy. I get it. But the target buyer will be younger crowd who will be using it as a daily driver and most likely not as a workhorse. All that being said, I paid $39,000 for fully loaded Lariat. That’s not a price to accept quality issues even for a truck marketed as low frills. I love the truck. I’ll live with it. But Ford is a reputable company that usually puts out quality vehicles. I would think they would want to address a material quality issue, be it $20,000 or $90,000 vehicle. This compact truck space will get crowded very soon and the Maverick getting out ahead may be short lived with the competition on the horizon coming fast with better quality & value. So far, I like almost everything about this little truck that’s not so little when you drive it!

Thank you for your prompt reply. VIN 3FTTW8F90NRA23995, Wayne County Ford, Honesdale PA. I escalated my concern of future durability to the owner/GM of my dealership. He took pictures and promised to look into the issue but no update. Please note that the Maverick was delivered with the issue and the Maverick has only 680 miles.

I wonder if its not so much that the plastic is softer, but that its textured the way it is. Thus any scratches make it smooth and so are far more obvious. Most plastics I've had in other vehicles were smooth, so any scratch wouldn't really show up as much unless it was a true gouge deep into the plastic that could catch a fingernail.

My last vehicle scratched easily. Was not a Ford. I agree it may be a little easy to scuff. Probably so more environmentally safer plastic during manufacturing. Those environmentalist put a lot of pressure on companies today. Except those same oddballs cover every inch of there cars with plastic stickers.

I'm a mid aged retired veteran replying to the Op and FMC. I have been a Ford customer for many years. I have a 2019 F150 XL and 2020 Escape at present. Both replaced other Ford's. My F150 is all power with cruise but has the rubber floor as I like the simple black trim. The F150 XL pretty much sets the standard for the "work" truck. The interior is plain but durable. I would expect the interior of the Maverick to be durable as well. The only diff between my truck and any other 25-35k Ford is the ability to carefully haul a piece of furniture on a mat (without damaging my truck), a plastic gas can during mowing season, or a 6ft fishing rod. My truck doesn't have a scratch and has been meticulously maintained. I know some "use" trucks but that only reinforces the need for durable materials. Thanks to Ford for addressing this as I am waiting on two hybrid Mavs at present.

You have to go pretty high up the price ladder to completely eliminate hard, easily scratched plastics, especially own the lower parts of the interior. That's just how it is these days. However, not every plastic is the same. Somehow my poor Chevy Cruze - which has had all manner of mechanical problems, still has a mint interior despite 186k miles of Uber usage in 4 years. There is a 1/2 inch pull in a seam on the back seat, but zero scratches on the plastics in the back seat area. So it's not as simple as "it's a cheap vehicle" when the Maverick interior suffers damage so quickly

I'm ok with using recycled and environmentally friendly materials. Good for everyone. I'm also ok if it's not perfect from the factory or there will be typical wear damage during everyday use. My issue is that it came from the factory blemished/damaged and the materials do appear to show more wear less than 1,000 miles. Also, many other owners posted similar concerns I keep my vehicles 150,000+ miles. When I purchase a vehicle, I feel it's a partnership with the dealer & Ford when there's an issue. We need to work together to resolve it. Do I want a new $500 door panel from Ford for a slight defect, not necessarily. Just want Ford to provide answers that I won't have to pay out of pocket in a few years to replace the interior plastic components. Ford's done the right thing with my many past vehicles that had similar quality issues. I expect Ford to do the same if an issue is identified. Thanks for everyone's positive posts!

Please look into this issue...durability flaw from design of the surface finish...when folks start paying attention to details...the reports will grow.

While we applaud thoughtful design...we also want DURABILITY that FORD trucks are known for!!

I must finally say there is something I am not pleased with on my Maverick. The interior hard plastic is not at all durable. Low mileage personal use only. Well cared for and cleaned weekly. Pictures filter out some of the scuffs. This is passenger side only.
