You may want to reach out to them since the warranty on the SS is supposed to cover that.

Question:
Can stainless steel rust?
Answer:

Magnaflow uses 409 grade automotive stainless steel. This particular grade of stainless has the tendency to form a protective layer of surface rust in wet/humid/snowy climates or when exposed to salted roads. This layer is superficial and will not penetrate the metal itself. It can be removed using soap and water and a steel Brillo or S.O.S pad. In the rare event that 409 stainless steel pipes become rusted through, Magnaflow's lifetime warranty will cover replacement.

Was that acceleration eco mode:cool:
Don’t think so but could have been, I didn’t stomp on it in the clips I included but I did do some takeoffs in sport mode. I added both to my FX4. With stomping on it you couldn’t really tell any change aside from the sound, but also harder to notice when under full acceleration and lots going on.The differences I noticed were more on medium takeoffs from stops. The other thing I noticed was the car tended to coast more when I removed my foot from the pedal at speed. Maybe it’s all in my head but as mentioned I had driven this car for a long time before adding it. Would be interested to hear of others adding cat backs noticed any of these things.

I have the same one. Noticed a terrible whistle when I really got on it. Complained to Magnaflow, and they said it was "turbo whistle". I cut off the twin tips, and installed an oval tip and it sounds SOOOO much better; no more whistle and more of a deeper growl.

I also have the S&B intake and got a Cobb tune, and my truck flies now.

After many months of looking at and comparing cat back exhaust systems I finally pulled the trigger and added the Magnaflow to my 2022 FX4. I wanted the performance gains of a cat back but I didn't want the sound of the less restrictive exhaust to be annoying. Many people have posted their opinions about adding a cat back system and I share some of those same concerns. I didn't want it to be a 4 cylinder trying to act like a V8 and I didn't want the dreaded "fart can" rattle you hear on so many Hondas and Subarus. Anyways I made a video of the install as well as some sound clips so others can hear and decide for themselves. In terms of the sound I think it is likely the most "mellow" of the current offerings out there and that was part of the reason I chose it.

Nice job detailing your install! Very informative and now you can add the Cobb time.👍

Do you have a sound clip?

I see in your video you never go above 3500 rpm, that's where the whistle comes in. Pedal to the floor.

Can it rust? Sure. It hasn’t rusted through. It was a NNY vehicle for a couple years too. Lots of salt and snow. The puppies are definitely not the same grade of SS as the rest of the system.

I really appreciate your approach to this. Very even handed and honest, I like your style! I also was amused by your very apt “fart can” descriptor 😂.

From your impressions, I guess that's the nice thing about it, it doesn't sound like you're a boy racer/fast and furious wannabe. I'm an adult, I don't want to it to sound like I'm trying to impress people -- who generally aren't going to be impressed because your "trucklet" sounds like a souped up Civic. ....after all, who's kidding who, performance cars don't sound like a perpetual fart.
If you're happy with the sound, you can feel a difference in the performance, and it's what you were hoping for and are happy with, it's all that matters. It doesn't sound bad at all.

After modification, I really like mine. Has a nice low rumble at low RPM's, no drone while on the highway, doesn't sound like a fart can, and no more whistle when I occasionally get on it.

Very nice. Do you have any exhaust leaks at all?

I had a magna flow cat back on my Ranger for the last 6 years I owned the truck. Slightly louder and a slight drone but it was the last muffler I ever put on the truck and in the long run it saved my money because of that. It acquired that "patina" mentioned above but never rusted through.

Want better, spend more. Magna Flow worked great for me.

Where did you get your oval tip?
