Before you listen to people who don't know what they're talking about, the hitch offered by Curt does NOT hang down lower than the OEM one, and the wiring harness does not use Scotchlocks at the taillights.
Before you jump to conclusions, I suggest perhaps reading more thoroughly. I said "Almost all aftermarket hitches" and "typically use Scotch-locks", leaving it to the reader to do their own research and determine the best course of action for themselves. I am glad that the Maverick is one of the exceptions, especially with a mainline brand like Curt.

Heck, I wish Curt did the same for 5th gen Explorers. The bumper cover can easily be trimmed and the hitch receiver placed higher up, but Curt's design goes completely under the bumper cover. Needs no trimming that way, but the hitch is a good couple of inches lower than the OEM option.

The only brand I know of that prioritizes hitch receiver positioning over ease of installation is Torklift with their Ecohitch series.

That plug-in power converter looks like a nice piece of kit. I like how it has a separate power wire to the battery and also a separate fuse, so I'm assuming it just plugs into the taillights for signal only, rather than signal and power.

I've had issues with the models without a separate power wire where the turn signals flash slowly or not at all with a trailer attached. The truck's lights need a certain amount of resistance to flash correctly. Too little (like a burnt-out bulb) and they hyperflash. Too much (like splicing in a trailer plug and connecting a trailer) and they flash slow or not at all. Not to mention with janky trailer wiring, if there is a short then it'd blow the truck's taillights out too.

No jumping to conclusions. If you had done YOUR research, and stuck to the vehicle in question, you would have learned that the Curt product addresses the aftermarket concerns you mentioned. It serves no purpose on a vehicle-specific forum to talk in generalities.

It's a collaborative effort, and we're all here at our leisure. I'm not here to conduct research for people for every question. Perhaps you are, and thus your contributions are valued. I try to at least point someone in the general direction using my prior experience.

There are advantaged to both the OEM and the Curt. I found the curt easy to install and as the other poster stated the receiver comes out exactly where the OEM one does.

The Curt wiring harness is "Plug & Play". I cant speak to how easy it is to install as I used a Ford OEM wiring harness.

I just received a quote from my dealer for $905. If I use my rewards then it'll be $695. That's an ouch! I did not order my Maverick or I would have included the hitch. :(

I have a 2022 XLT hybrid. Did not get a hitch due to constraints then.
Ready to have hitch installed, where have people gone .
check with your favorite body shop guy...mine will install whatever I can't handle
do your research on how low it hangs when mounted, e-trailer has lots of choices, get a part number and see if Rock Auto can source it (really) then go to your body guy. Rock Auto will also have factory adapter harness with watertight connectors. Good luck!
