You think this is a lot of work? SImple, easy.If I knew the hitch needs so much work, I would have ordered the hitch and the electrical connectors.
Same here. If I was given 2nd chance to buy another Maverick truck, I still would rather to get the truck sooner, and I will probably choose no option at allYou think this is a lot of work? SImple, easy.
Agreed though, should have just sprung for the $100, which most of did. Then many us were encouraged to drop things that could slow up the process. That's how I ended up in the situation
Those hitches are made to fit the rear bumper or if you can find a place to mount underneath the bed their strength are limited to the strength of 2 bolts. The OEM hitch ($100 option when I ordered mine) is ONE OF THE BEST BARGAINS on the Maverick...The factory hitch mounted during assembly has got to be a 5-10 installation. Ford engineered their structural members under the bed to handle THEIR trailer hitch and THEIR wiring. Half a dozen people posting on this thread have done aftermarket comparable trailer hitches to the Maverick OEM hitch and paid $300-$500...often the wiring is sloppy compared to the very near OEM wiring. Good friend got a quote from a U-Haul dealer for her hitch and wiring for $400. The towing capacity limits are a combined strength of the hitch and the structure members the hitch is attached to.I don't think they would make something that does not fit.
Yes but I have ordered a 23 Hybrid and one of the constraint items is the hitch. So I am looking at removing that option so I can get a Mav and then install my own hitch. I agree, the one video that uses those clips to tie into wiring is very sloppy. I would splice and solder and protect it.Those hitches are made to fit the rear bumper or if you can find a place to mount underneath the bed their strength are limited to the strength of 2 bolts.
