The criteria the auto start stop feature uses to decide when it shuts down is kind of stupid at times. If I forget to do it when I pull into the garage, it shuts down, then turns on when I shift to park. Other times it forgets it has the autostop and I'm at a light for a long time.... then it stops when the light goes green.

It makes me wish I had a manual mode for the start stop for when I'm fully aware I'm going to be there for a while.

Push the button to disable it every time you get in. Then, if you're stuck in traffic, push it again and the engine will immediately shut off unless there's a condition preventing it. (Low 12V battery, heavy HVAC demand, etc)

If you don't want to push it every time, get an Autostop Eliminator. Installs in less than 5 min.

Cheaper and easier to just disable auto stop start in forscan

2 years ago, that didn't work for me unless I killed the battery monitoring system, which I did not want to do. Only slightly cheaper to do Forscan once you buy the license and the right cable.

I also disagree with easier. Literally anyone can plug in the Autostop Eliminator in 5 min and use the button if they want to turn autostop back on.

I dont want to entirely remove the autostart/stop. I just think it occasionally is a little dumb. I can tap the off button. Its right there. Sometime it even does it at the right times.

I respect your opinion, but I see no evidence that disabling auto stop start through forscan "kills the BMS". If you disable it how I recently did following this Forscan Spreadsheet , there are no issues with the BMS system at all and I made no coding changes to the BMS.

What does the eliminator cost like $100? If I didn't have forscan already, you can get a cable and the software for about $30-40. Took me about 5 minutes to disable in forscan.

Either way works but in forscan you can keep auto stop start working and just have it default to off instead of on when starting the vehicle OR you can disable it permanently. I would be more concerned that the physical auto stop start eliminator may throw DTC codes or messes with the BMS system.

Either way works, I just want others to know that it can be done in forscan easily and works great. and does not cause any problems

He's saying that before you were able to do it with FORScan, the only way to kill the ASS was to disconnect the BMS on the battery terminal, but that's a risky option.

I also got the ASS eliminator for my truck, but I got mine off of Ali Express for $10 lmao

When you are at a light for a long time (seems like 45 seconds, might be ables to change in settings) the ice will start to keep from draining the 12v which should be considered normal. Also heavy draws will also cause start to happen. The hybrid will also start ice to keep HVB between 30%-40%. One advantage in hybrid if you put in park and tap g pedal the ice will start to top HVB up to 40%.

Based on the coding for hybrids and ecoboosts, the hybrids actually have a different auto stop start strategy based on their engine, trans, battery voltage

Anyways, OP the auto stop start is based on battery voltage. If you just started your vehicle or the AC is running on a hot day, your BMS sensor will not let auto stop start happen because voltage is too low. This is normal, but if it's disabling stops start more than normal, I would suggest a trickle charger or new Battery and BMS reset.

There is it's called forscan plenty of videos on how to do it also the button will still operate the light on and off but it won't change anything it's automatically disabled to your actual question this would be a permanent off not a manual on and off at will. Permanent at least until you put it back with forscan if you chose to.
