The B&O system in the Lariat is slightly higher quality parts, but honestly, no one is ever going to mistake an automobile for a music studio. I have high quality headphones at home; I just need the car stereo to keep me awake.
Totally agreee!!!!

I'm sure I'll draw fire for this, but I don't get what people on here and some of the auto journalists I've seen are talking about when they say the base stereo in the Maverick is really bad.

With the amount of negative talk about it that I heard I went in to pick up my Maverick 2 weeks ago expecting the stereo to be utterly useless, and if I turned the volume up from even a whisper it would be distorted ear rape coming out of the speakers.

Its not true at all, and I've been jamming to music just fine. I had a 2018 Premium GT mustang before this with the top sound system and I'm not finding myself noticing much difference...
Great to hear, IMHO, the 2018 Mustang stereo is pretty decent too, so it sounds Like I'll be content with this one. I checked Crutchfield and they show plenty of speaker upgrades, but no head units available to fit.

I do need to agree, I have a XL I love it, way better then my 2019 ranger XL system.

I like the base stereo and speakers. I'm an audiophile wannabe. I love systems that sound great but am too cheap to get them. :)

My complaint is that they put the rear speakers right next to the back passengers' ear. Anyone who sits in the back seat gets blasted if you have the sound coming through the back speakers at all, so I end up moving the entire sound to the front speakers when I need to talk with those in the back seat.

Anyone else have that issue?
Yeah my son has already complained that the speaker in the back is too loud and right next to his ear. So I adjusted the fade mostly to the front when he is in the back seat. Problem solved. I do wish there was a way to have a preset for easily changing the fade profile but it's easy enough to change for the infrequent times I have passengers in the back seat.

The source for music seems to make a big difference. This was touched on in another thread about the sound system, and my experience today bears it out.

Normally using a tablet (connected with bluetooth) playing my music files through an app with its equalizer adjusted to be fuller in the mid range. Tablet battery died, so plugged my jump drive in the USB port, with the exact same song files. Really noticeable decline in sound quality with the jump drive. Have to think that it's not the bluetooth/USB change that made the difference but the lack of external equalizer. With-sounds really good to me, without-sounds OK.

Cheers.

Yes, and it's thanks to the design choice to put the large pocket and bottle holders in the rear doors. The Bronco Sport has 6.5 in the rear doors and I'd much prefer that. (But not the Bronco Sport itself, bleh, lol.)

The problem with the Mav sound system is the speakers are only rated at 25 watts which tells me it's only a 25 watt amp, not 100 watts like we are used to. Plus the magnet on the speakers is very small. Larger magnets mean better sound. If Ford spent just $10 more on the speakers it would have made a big difference.

Yes the sound is not bad but you are not getting the full range. The low notes need more amp power to be heard properly. Adjusting the bass and treble helps but it is not the same as a more powerful amp and speakers with larger magnets like the B&O system has.

You can't play copyrighted music on YouTube but I snuck a couple of notes into this video with the base Mav stereo on my XLT. Can anyone name that tune?

Depends on the artist, but yes, most restrict. Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age is a cool dude and doesn't block.

You'll need good headphones to tell what's happening but my phone mic and YouTube quality are not horrible.

Stock B&O at max volume - turning the bass down is critical:

Photo of the Maverick stock speaker with its very small magnet. Zoom in and you can see it is only rated at 25 watts. The speaker next to it is overkill at 480 watts but this shows you what a good quality speaker looks like. For probably $5 more each, Ford could have included better speakers with a decent size magnet and saved people the misery of removing all the door panels.

I guess nothing’s perfect. My biggest gripe on the Maverick so far is that I have to change the fader from time to time.

That’s a REALLY good vehicle if that’s it’s biggest problem. 😊

Does anyone recall the settings recommended for best audio experience on the base (XL XLT) audio system?
I remember of setting the profile to driver and some changes in setting for bass middle...
it worked very well for me and now reset them and I can not recall or find the tread.

Zero issues with the stock stereo, sounds just fine, can confirm back passenger will not care for it too loud though. :)
