I did a lot of highest driving yesterday. Most of it was cruise control set at 75mph.

Same things everyone is reporting, lots of wind noise and around 32mpg.

The pleasing thing is how unnoticeable the ICE is at that speed. I guess this is one advantage of the eCVT. When cruising down the highway I don't think it ever got above 2500rpm!

I'd like to see a comparable RPM from an EB owner going 75 mph.

Also, after watching the torque pro readout for a bit, it's safe to assume that your battery is hovering around %40 charge. If it gets much below %35 the ICE turns on and it starts charging. If it gets much above %45 electric mode kicks on. The ECU seems to like it at %40.

Also, I think the onboard fuel economy readout is optimistic. Or, at least it didn't agree with the math torque pro was putting out.

My fx4 ecoboost with cruise control set @ 75mph

Good! I guess I'm used to my ol' 5 speed that would be hovering above 3k rpm at that speed. I'm very pleased with this because I think this means both motors will have a better lifespan.

32 mpg instantaneous doesn't sound that incorrect. That's what mine usually hovers at even at 57 mph. It's the "infinite mpg" with driving in electric mode that really pushes the number up. I'd also see what the MPG is as the battery nears more full. With my Fusion most of the time it returned <25 mpg when the ICE was running (near regardless of speed) until the battery neared full then it'd sometimes get to 40+. I have noticed the Maverick doesn't go into EV mode as readily as the Fusion especially >55 mph. The proportion of EV miles on my commute is resultingly lower, but the base ICE efficiency seems to make up the difference and still returns 44mpg. It's a result I'm more than happy with so I haven't watched the instant MPG extensively or checked if my OBD adapter/app can read HVB SoC.

This is a great thread, thanks for posting and the replies. Interesting stuff.

My experience on my drive back from Philly to Dallas was 33MPG highway with the AC off. Now that it's summer in Texas, that number is dropping a few MPG as is expected. Affects the city MPG just as much.

That Torque Pro app is pretty cool. Assuming it needs it's own OBD connector?

Yes. I have an Android phone, so I got this one.

I would suggest that not everyone is reporting that. My XLT-Lux has virtually no wind noise and returned just over 41 mpg on a 1000 mile fishing trip 2 weeks ago averaging 70-80 mph for almost the entire trip.

Your right. I guess I should maybe rephrase that. The largest part of the noise is from wind. Not the engine nor tires. I did have to raise the radio two levels to be able to comfortably hear my podcast. All that said, I do not consider the noise to be excessive.

Better?

I second this in Texas, my MPG dropped from 36 to 34 with the hot weather and constant A/C. Still very happy with the Mav, much better than my Tundra.

Did you set your radio to automatically increase volume as you increase speed? I like this feature.

Increased it since the last road trip.

My non-FX4 EcoBoost hovers around 2k rpm at 80mph, at 75mph it’s around 1,800-1,900rpms for reference

Of interest the blue needle speed indicator seems to be 1.5-2.75 mph faster than the digital readout (just like my hybrid first edition). I wonder if the difference in these is equal to the difference in display mpg to the hand calculated mpg????🤔

Mine has an option to automatically raise the volume at higher speeds. It’s probably not enough for Podcasts though.
