Don’t have mine yet, but reading on this and other forums about catalytic converters overheating, various engine light codes… Makes me wonder how reliable this truck will be.. Anyone else rethinking their Maverick? Or waiting a year to see how it does? If I buy this truck it will be my only vehicle, so being in the shop weeks at a time not a option for me.
Ford has release a bulletin regarding the high temp catalytic converter with rough idle and they will release a PCM software update by the end of the month.

That is definitly annoying but at least, Ford is taking care of it.

I am having second thoughts also....same boat, will be my only vehicle. I have started looking at used GMC canyons with the 2.8l Duramax diesel, and will be sitting in a couple before I decide.

You always see negative issues posted, rarely good things. Makes it seem as though all the models are having problems when it’s actually an isolated few on the overall scheme of things. I can say my Lariat Lux hybrid has 1,4xx miles now and I haven’t had a single issue. Loving the mileage! I’ll bet those who switched to a 2.0 so they didn’t have to wait will feel it at the pump now. Patience is not something most on this forum have.

Second thoughts? Nope, not at all. That’s what a warranty is for. I’m sure it will be fine. Every model from every manufacturer has a lemon now and then. If I get a lemon Ford will take it back and I will get something else.

Would you buy another Maverick?

I keep reading about the need to check the O2 sensor. An OBD2 scanner will pick up error codes P0130 to 0135 or 1050 to 1055 indicating the upstream oxygen sensor is out of tolerance. Spending $75 on a sensor is an alternative to 1750 for a converter and thousands more for an engine.

No regrets on my Hybrid. Only had it a week, so still on first tank after 500 miles. I'll probably fill it up in a couple of days and find out how big the tank is. This darn thing is peppy too!! No problems passing on the highway, and I drive it in ECO mode.
I initially reserved this to see if it would come in before my 2-door Bronco order, and it did. I then thought I would use it as a trade in on the Bronco. I'm having second thoughts now, and will probably trade in my 2007 Toyota Tundra for the Bronco instead.

Hiya Scout. My Hybrid is doing just fine. Picked it up back in early January and drove to Colorado from Long McArthur Dealership in Kansas. The whole trip went fine. I now have about 1400 miles on it and it seems to be be doing the job solidly. I haven't had any mechanical issues thus far. Also keep in mind for that everyone that speaks up about an issue, there are many others who are getting along just fine with it and aren't sharing it on a forum board. So just a reminder to keep perspective. Take care!
I sincerely believe there are pros/cons on purchasing an otherwise untested unproven first line hybrid truck. After much research and reading about my purchase, Lariat lux all the bells and whistles truck, my final conclusion was, anything that crops up at the rollout will be taken care of ‘pronto’. Ford DOES NOT want bad press on this innovative truck to kill future sales of the Maverick or any other hybrid that they would introduce. If a problem arises you can bet your ‘cubby hole’ truck bed accessory, they’re going to do their best to get the problem(s) corrected. That being said, I wonder how many fence-sitters are wishing they would have signed up, given the spiraling gas prices now. Told ya so!

I've had my Maverick Hybrid XLT for almost three months and 900 miles and have had no issues whatsoever.

Over that time and miles I am getting over 40+ MPG and loving that number because gas is now $3.80 a gallon. I still have 5/8 of a tank left so my next fill-up won't be until sometime in April.
