Just put it in slippy mode. You will slam them on if you are use to trying to coast for regen.

Actually what worked for me is putting in N and braking downhill. Regen icon disappears, so all disc braking. And best of all, no slamming on brakes required. Instead of dark brown, I see a few shiny circles. Will keep on doing it and see if they improve.

I have to do a similar thing with my Mach-E. Because of 1-pedal driving the rotors get really rusty so I head out to the back roads get up to speed then put it in neutral and brake normally until I come to a stop.

Repeat the process a couple of times and I'm good for another month or two.

Do not do this people! This is not good for your transmission. You do not need to hammer the brakes to knock rust off the rotors either. Normal braking will always use the pads during the final phase of a stop.

They might be worried you'll go to Park and cause damage.
I have seen explanations from hybrid techs talking about eCVTs and why you shouldn't switch to neutral if you are in motion, but finding those might take some time. I'm not even sure if it was the videos primary subject. Accidentally switching to park wasn't the reason, it was something to do with the electric motors.

I think as long as the OP comes to a complete stop before shifting back into D or P they should be fine. I believe the issue is when you are still in motion and then go from N to D or P.

Wish mine looked like that. They are dark brown and powdery.
Those are on my 2023 Hybrid XLT LUX with 2050 miles. Coming up Sept 9th for 2nd annual oil change. He holds on to my Noco g 5 amp maintainer for me.

Actually Slippery reduces Regen so I Assume that when braking in slippery the rear brakes will be used a larger percentage or at an increased relative pressure. So may wear faster?
