Bottom line: if it can do this, what more do you need?
Yes, maybe it "can", but it's not realistic is the point we're all trying to make. Especially in your case with a hybrid that has had some upgrades. Hopefully it doesn't mislead other hybrid owners who are 100% bone stock to attempt what you are, and end up damaging something.

Of course it can pull 4k as the 4k tow package is not an engine upgrade, but do it on the regular you will destroy you eCVT. The 4k package includes a transmission cooler and upgraded cooling fan to offset the extra 2k strain/heat on the system. It also includes a trailer brake controller so that it doesn’t just rely on the Maverick’s brakes. No controller also equals longer braking distances which puts others drivers at risk. Enjoy your truck while it lasts 😆
Maybe true but has little to do w this post, OP was using a 22hybrid that has no 4k tow or awd. Just saying.
I don’t read many posts because I missed your other post 😂
Maybe you should have been more thorough on this one, and what were you expecting with this post, congratulation?
Even with your modifications your truck is not the equal of an AWD with the 4k tow package.
point is that this example is not very “real world useful” other than to say if they made a phev it could maybe offer some usefulness, I.e. op was using EV mode and very short distance, -a phev would have larger battery to use for traditional tow and could more naturally engage EV for grades, etc) -virtually no one would tow 4k+ long distance or in mountains etc w hybrid 2k no awd.

My 2022 FWD hybrid pulled 4,000 lbs. up a 19% grade IN EV mode.

The hybrids have more than enough torque and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Measured 11 degree slope which pencils to a 19% grade.

EV mode.
3 to 5 MPH.
FWD (could use AWD I had a little wheel chirp but no biggie).
Short distance so small battery pack was not at issue.

800 lbs in bed.
3200 lbs trailer.
One 200 lb. person.
75 lbs of luggage in back seat.
Dry. 85 degrees ambient.

Do you have a tow package?

Careful, not to take anything away from OP’s work, just know he does NOT have the factory 4kTow and AWD or eCVT etc that was not available until the 2025 model yr, Devil is in detail so don’t take a simple yes that he added a hitch and intercooler as a true tow pkg.
The value I got from the post , and thank op for this, is that if I was towing my boat (I do have the 2025 4kTow /AWD ) and I was on a boat ramp or other short slop, that I could engage EV mode and perhaps get some extra tork to get out of trouble (btw this is GarryM talking to GarryB- lol)

Who said it was realistic?

How many have space shuttles or 19% grades laying around for that matter.

Other point, perhaps LARGER point....

If a 2022 can, a 2025+ should be able to also.

STRICTLY A TORQUE TEST
Not a recommendation you should do it.

Do not attempt unless you are a professional driver on a closed course.

(I'm compelled to say that by site worry worts.)
How far though? I think TFL might have run a hybrid through the Gauntlet out in Colorado to test it.

So what was the distance traveled for this experiment?

With all due respect, you sure made it seem realistic before you went back and edited your post about an hour ago. So, thank you for adding those disclaimers to the original post.

Now to your test here. I'm glad it worked for you, it wouldn't be something I would try if I had a hybrid though, but that's just me (and probably how many others here think). But with your aftermarket upgrades, I'm glad to hear your truck is capable to do that. For your sake though, I would still be worried about the longevity of drivetrain components if repeatedly doing this.

Maybe I'm missing something. But it looks like some people are getting way too serious. I don't the the OP was trying to recommend towing 4,000 lbs regularly with a fwd hybrid. Looks like he was simply sharing the results of his personal experiment to see what his Maverick is capable of doing. I doubt if he's doing cross country trips at highway speeds uphill. It was a short junket up a steep ramp. And if the engine remained off, he undoubtedly is being very light on the throttle during his experiment. Is it good for his truck? No. But is it likely going to make it crap out the way he's doing it. Probably not. It's probably less strenuous than when I used my brother's 1985 4 cyl 5 speed Ranger to tow an 1980 Chevy Caprice on a dolly. The truck was clearly out of its league. I smelled a bit of clutch when I had to rev the engine and slip the clutch in order to pull off at a light that was on a steep incline. I drove about 50 miles unable to get any higher than 3rd gear most of the 20 mile journey. When I successfully completed my journey, my brother was proud of what his little truck could do. We still talk about that tough little truck. Would I recommend others try it? No. But since it wasn't a regular thing, it probably did literally harm . I said all of that to say this. LIGHTEN UP everyone 😅
