My apologies, I misunderstood when you were talking about. There at the end, that was him winding her down, I think. Everything I heard the Mav will just ride that governor for as long as you floor it.
Yes, same as military vehicles. Thanks.

Well that depends on the vic. I've dealt with some LMTVs that couldn't go any faster than 20 mph if you rolled them down a mountain, let alone staying at governor.

Have to take your word for it.
I’m talking half a century ago.
Almost seems like yesterday.
Well, maybe the day before…….

Did the driver let off the gas?
Or did the computer do it for him?
I guess I’m getting old, but I’ve never driven a vehicle that had a governor on it, except in the military.
Every vehicle that I’ve tried to top out was only limited by the ability of it’s horsepower to overcome wind resistance.
And 110mph is awfully slow for a top end. Even my 4cylinder
‘92 Toyota pickup would do more than 110.
you probably have driven a vehicle with a 'governor' on it, they are burned into the eeprons that control the fuel flow on fuel injection engines

Does anyone know what the hybrid maverick top speed is? I’ve seen 105mph for the EB but nothing for the Hybrid

edit: 110mph seems to be the top speed for a maverick hybrid

thank you all for unearthing this info
Saw a YouTube that showed how to access tachometer for the Hybrid. Engine limiter is 5400 rpm which at 35mph per 1000 rpm would be a theoretical top speed around 175mph. But we all know that is not happening. Engine swings up to 5400 rpm, stays there as speed increases. Sort of like a Vespa centrifugal clutch.

Have a PDK and having paddle shifting is fun but it really is not needed since the PDK anticipates your gear and changes base on RPM or gas pedal. it seems to always be in the right gear. When accelerating the PDK determines if you need to up shift or down shift, based on current RPM.

The most impressing thing about the PDK is downshift braking. At 80+ mph a deer ran into my path. Hitting the brakes at 80mph, the PDK downshifts from 7th to 2nd gear in no more than 3 or 4 seconds, and you can see and hear each shift. Good time to be wearing a seat belt. PDK is not an automatic transmission, it is an automatic manual transmission with dual clutches, without a clutch pedal. All Indy cars have a comparable PDK transmission.

The Traction Motor is direct drive to the wheels.

40 MPH = 5,000 RPM
80 MPH = 10,000 RPM
100 MPH = 12,500 RPM

At 110 MPH the Traction Motor is at 13,750 RPM. This is why it is software limited to 110 mph: to keep the motor from flying apart.

Years ago (late '70s), I had a Yamaha XS500 motorcycle whose tach was redlined at 9,000 RPM. I missed a shift once (trying to avoid getting run over by a fast-moving truck), and the engine went WELL past that - it was screaming! When I managed to look down at the tach, it was coming down through 11,000!

It bent a few things - had to get the engine rebuilt - but didn't blow up, and actually kinda/sorta ran afterwards. At least it ran "well enough" to limp to a local dealer.

But the sound that engine made was not something I ever want to hear again!

So, when the governor kicks in, it doesn’t just stop you from going faster……it actually seriously slows you down. Do I have that right? At what speed can you resume?
You haven't driven a vehicle with a governor? I'm in my 30's and most of the vehicles I've owned had one. All around 110mph.

Ah yes, the good old days of driving down the autobahn at 55 miles per hour. The other drivers loved that.

In electric mode the motor is spinning x rpm. At the same time generator is spinning backwards at the same rpm -x.

The gas engine is stationary.

When the gas engine is spinning, the generator negative speed is decreased or you could say increased in the positive direction.

Welcome to cvt world.

if you want to see some impressive shifts. Check out a pdk or the vw dsg dual clutch

I wish vw would bring the rabbit back. Slap in the drivetrain from the vw tdi era(2.0 common rail turbo with insane torque)

it would be a no brained mini-truck that could dominate the market.

some idiot had To try to cheat the epa.
What is impressive about the PDK is pressing the BRAKES to the floor at 120mph and see a downshifting thru each gear to 20 mph in seconds, down shifting thru each gear.

My 2016 CMax Hybrid was software limited to 80 mph. It was set this way 3 yrs ago when I bought it. Dont know if the software could have been changed to allow it to go faster.
