I have read battery threads for hours. Still left with some uncertainty on exactly how to perform a charge.

My 6 month old, 3,000 mile 2024 hybrid lariat went into its first deep sleep yesterday. Original Ford/Spain flooded type battery.

I immediately amazoned a Noco Genius 1 & attached to under hood connections approx 6PM yesterday, Friday.

By about 6AM this morning, Saturday, and through now, 2PM the charger is slowly pulsing green. Manual says that’s bulk charge complete, optimizing underway. Assume at some point it will turn solid green, 100% charged.

I can leave it for about 19 more hours to see if it can reach that 100%.

What steps do I need to do next? Do I need to do the BMS reset procedure?

Do I need to do the overnight/8 hour double lock stay away?

Is there another step?

Maverick manual isn’t very helpful. Lots of posts here, but haven’t been able to find these steps clearly outlined. Thanks for reading & advising

If it's charging from the under hood pins, or placed in front of the BMS on the battery itself, the battery sensor should detect the charging, no reset should be needed.

The Noco's optimizing can take up to 48 hours, so you might not get that part done.

Could have just watched one Youtube video LOL. I just charge mine overnight since the charger I use has an auto shut off.

Let it optimize if you can, it helps keep the battery healthy, it just takes a while. If you connected the NOCO clamps to the battery terminals then you might need to do the manual BMS reset. As @icegradner said you can connect the negative clamp to the body or outside of the block sensor on the negative terminal and the BMS should detect the charge. Wouldn't hurt to reset it.

It's more thrilling to ask random, unvetted strangers on the Internet.

That's not how Youtube works LMAO. You see a video of a hybrid charging, you do the same thing. THAT is your vetting: that it works
Just as there are a lot of stupid, illogical posts here, there are stupid people posting stuff that "works" on Youtube. Sure it's hard to mess up a video about a battery charger, but you can bet someone would figure out how to.

I use a genius 5 (it just charges faster than the genius 1 but I think after 90% (+/-) charge they both will run the same. I put mine on jump posts and left hood open with truck locked and leave it several days when I can. The solid green light without the red and orange charge lights lit indicates in standby mode. It will periodically flash very slowly sometimes very lightly indicating it's optimizing again. I don't know if the 8 hour battery learn repeats every day or not.

I put a Noco G3500 (3.5A charger, now replaced by the Genius5) on the underhood terminal when I expect my Mav hybrid to be sitting more than a few days. It charges up and enters maintenance mode like yours, but any activity that consumes power will kick it back into charging mode. All you have to do is open a door, even if the dome light is off. I believe that the EPA-mandated self-testing done periodically while parked (clicking noises) will restart the charger too. So... if you check the status of your charger, it's a crap shoot whether you will see the end-stage or still-charging state since you don't know what's been happening recently on the load side. No action is needed by you; the BMS is aware of the charger. You only need to reset the BMS when you replace the battery.

I do all of that, but I have no idea if it's necessary or not. I may be lucky, but I've never had any battery issues with my Hybrid's OEM 12v battery.

Regarding the NOCO pulsating Green light, it should eventually turn solid green when the NOCO has finished conditioning the battery. You can leave it connected to the jump posts indefinitely, if not driving it for a while.

I think the jump points are under the hood but I think the battery in under the back seat. I could be wrong. It might get a better charge if you connect direct to the battery.

Maybe on the better charge. But be sure to NOT connect the charger negative to the battery post. It has to have the BMS between the negative battery terminal and the charger negative so that the BMS can keep track of the charging current.
