It did not open the doors :(
I'm looking for a XL or base XLT key (without remote start) . That will operate the electric door locks.

I used this one https://amzn.to/3WVGxAX from @Redneck Garage first post that has an Amazon rating of 4.3 stars
@zach57x used this one https://a.co/d/8pULIYm with 3.8 stars
They both programmed in the ignition but neither of them work the electric door locks

Is this just random poor Chinese quality or a bad batch of keys by specific vendors?

Has anyone tried this one https://amzn.to/3RpQJAH for $29.95 from redneck's first post that gets 4.2 stars or another one that operates the electric door locks?

Thanks

OEM Ford one below. I have both the one below and the one you linked. both work for me buttons and keys. I feel like the quality of the OEM Ford one is better.

Interesting, no reviews yet. It says OEM but does not say Ford and does not have the Ford logo on the back like the factory key.

It is the only one that specifically mentions the Maverick in supported vehicles.

Thanks

you are correct I just checked the back and no ford logo. I wonder if it is truly OEM or not now lol.

2024 Maverick XLT Luxury Package

I recently purchased a 2024 Maverick XLT with the luxury package.
So far (I've only driven a couple of hundred miles) I'm very happy with it, except for one thing:

When I do errands, my disabled wife stays in the car and listens to the radio. The key is left in the ignition in the accessory position but the engine is not running. When I leave the car, I've checked and all doors, including the rear bed, are unlocked. When I return, all doors including the bed are locked. In order for me to get in, my wife has to unlock the doors. While this hasn't been a problem, I'm concerned about this behavior and want to better understand it and see if I can eliminate this auto locking.

Here are some other observations:

1) I live in a rural area of Maine and don't lock my truck in the driveway, but do always take my keys. In this situation, the truck never autolocks and is unlocked whenever I come back.

2) The car AutoLocks, as documented, when I reach a speed of about 15mpg

3) For some reason, Ford removed the combo lock in the 2024 model and my truck is always in battery saver mode as I don't drive it very much, so the Ford Connect app connot be used to open the doors.

4) As mentioned, all doors are initially unlocked when I leave the care with the key in the ignition (not running), but are all locked when I return in half our or so.

As I'm not sure if keeping the key in the ignition will at some point autolock with nobody in the passenger seat and how long the time delay is for this to happen (could I get locked out in the winter scrapaing ice of my windshield?), I've purchased a spare key (no chip) from these folks: https://fasterautokeys.com/collections/ford and will put it in a magnetic case underneath for emergencies, but I'd really like to be able to disable this undesirable autolocking behavior. I called the dealer and they weren't familiar with it and said they'd take a look at it the next time I'm in for service, but I'm hoping someone here might be able to tell me more about this. Again, it's a 2024 XLT with the luxury package.

Help?

Hey Jon. I also live in a rural area and never lock my Maverick. Mine is the 2024 XLT with lux package as well. I can leave the key in the ignition but it never will lock. I'll try leaving the key in the accessory position to see if it will lock automatically. For the truck going into sleep mode because your not driving it much get a battery tender/charger. They can be bought relatively cheaply and will keep it from going into sleep mode.

Also you should repost this in a new thread. It may not get noticed here.

wow. Thank you
I have only one working FOB. I'm looking for a compatible OBD2 Scanner that will program a new one (I have a cut flip key to program). It's been very difficult to figure out which scanner will work. Any advice?

I only had one oem FOB and had to get a locksmith to program it with a laptop and sepcial ford software. Only one locksmith out of the five in the area could do it. Dealer would had cost $200 to program a new FOB.

OUCH! I'm glad I found this thread before I lost a remote. I purchased a spare remote from Aliexpress for around $15 and programed it without issue.

Check your dealer paperwork for things they threw into the sale.
Mine included one lost key replacement, cutting and programming.

But your phrasing 1 working FOB - sounds like another non-working FOB?
Is that to actually start the truck, or just not the remote unlock?
If it starts - you can still do the new key programming routine given in OP.

There has been many questions on the keys for our beloved trucks and as a locksmith I can say if you lose all your keys you will more than likely have to tow it back to the dealer until our software is updated. HOWEVER I have confirmed on board programming works if you have the original two keys ( two programmed keys ) - you can program them yourself - that has been mentioned here before. Do this NOW !!! before you loose one of the two keys LOL.

On the XL or XLT trucks you can either add a flip remote or just a standard key ( possibly you might want to add two cheaper keys as a backup ) On the Lariat only the fob will work however the emergency key is not required. I thought I would put links to which keys to purchase and you can take them to a local locksmith just to have cut - as long as you maintain two extra you are in good shape adding in the future.

XL and XLT Keys - I have posted multiple links in case one is out of stock -
Remote headed Keys - $23.99-https://amzn.to/40xtAk7 or $29.95 https://amzn.to/3RpQJAH or $23.99 https://amzn.to/3WVGxAX

flip.jpg

If yours has a remote start it would be this key - 49.99- https://amzn.to/3wNgDVG 89.95 2 Pack - https://amzn.to/3jsaBq7 45.29 - https://amzn.to/3WUcmdl

remote.jpg

Plastic Headed Keys -
16.95 for 2 - https://amzn.to/3HNZe5h 43.21 Ford Factory Blank ( same Chip ) https://amzn.to/3jklzOD If you are wanting to do a "hide-a-key" this one is the one to use due to it being waterproof.

plastic.jpg

To program you insert the existing first key, turn on ignition, count to three, take out put in existing second key turn on ignition - count to three - take new third key - turn on ignition - leave on - you should hear a chirp and a message key was successful.

For the Lariat -
58.95 - https://amzn.to/3XT89b7 109.95 - 2 Pack - https://amzn.to/40m014U 37.95 - https://amzn.to/3XaDs0h For the Fob to work / be programmed it doesn't matter if the key is cut or not - it only opens the door if the battery is completely dead.

prox.jpg

If your Fob does not have remote start for the 2023 Lariat it is this one - 38.99 - https://amzn.to/40ihWsZ

nostart_.jpg

To program - open center console. Pull up felt cover - place first existing fob in depression - push start button ( without foot on brake ) ignition comes on- count to 5 - remove fob - push ignition off - put second existing fob in depression - push ignition on - count to five - remove fob - push ignition off. take new fob - put in depression push AND HOLD start button down - you should hear chirp and message - key programming successful.

All in all pretty simple procedures and a few dollars and effort now can save you hundreds later !
I keep getting key program failure for the plastic key fob in my XL any suggestions?
