I can assure you it's a real problem. Will it be a noticeable issue for everyone? No, it depends on a lot of variables but it will degrade performance, fuel mileage and could potentially cause running issues like misfires. I don't really understand why people think this is a myth. I have personally cleaned ecoboost valves quite a few times. I guess ignorance is bliss but there's a reason Ford added port injection (In conjunction with DI) to the 2.0 ecoboost engine on the Ford Escape for 2024. Toyota has been doing it for many years (Running both). If you have an engine with only direct injection it's not really a matter of if it happens, it's a matter of when it happens.Yes! Moving on.
Please show us issues that have occurred on Mavericks from carbon buildup on valves. We're waiting.
Are they truly necessary or just another way for an aftermarket company to take your money for a 'mod'?
Until shown sufficient evidence, I have to believe that this is an overblown problem which serves the companies who sell these "fixes". Plus it scratches an itch for the DIYers who want to build a better mouse trap. Problem is that there might not actually be a problem and there's no mice to catch.
