how to jack truck to put it on jack stands.

I understand that there are jack point on the pinch welds, but when I rotate tires I like to pick up my vehicles and put them on jack stands. Also I like to use jack stands when changing oil since I don't have ramps.

Where can I put a jack under the truck to get it up in the air so I can put jack stand on the pinch welds? Or do I have this backwards and I need to jack by the pinch welds and place the jack stands somewhere else?

Pics would be nice if someone can.

Also I was wondering if I could use this jack spreader from Harbor Freight. I was thinking I could put it just back far enough in the from to get a jack stand on the from pinch weld and jack the whole side up. I figure since the back is so light and the weight would be spread out it should be OK. Then I could put jack stands in front and back on one side. The do the same for the other side. Thoughts?

I have jack stands that have a groove in the center for pinch-weld lifts. I think I got them at AutoZone but I could be wrong. They work perfectly when I put the lift kit on my XLT. I checked them and there isn't a brand name on them just Made in USA.

I agree, not much for jacking options on the Maverick. I did not like using the pinch welds with the plastic mouldings. I used a rubber jack pad and lifted under the lower a-arms to switch tires. OIl changes will be on a lift so that will not be an issue.

Since I change my own oil I purchased some hockey puck looking hard plastic pieces on Amazon that sit on my floor jack. These have slots cut in them to accommodate the pinch weld. I bought these for my Transit Connect but I’m sure they would work for the maverick. I’m a January order so it will be quite a while before I get to use them on my Maverick.

Jacking on any of the body panels, other than at the pinch welds, is going to cause some deformation of the panel. You may get away with using it on the lower control arm but they could be damaged. New trucks aren't as strong as they once were so you really need to look where you put your jack these days.

If I jack the truck up by the pinch weld I can slide a jack stand under the truck. There is a lot of medal subframe under the truck. Some places on the subframe are strong enough to support the truck on a jack stand, others will bend, warp, or give out. I don't know where those places are.

The area just inside the pinch weld where the arrow on the rocker panel cover is, won't handle the weight of the truck, in fact, I don't think there is anywhere on the underside of the truck between the wheels that will support the truck safely other than on the pinch welds.

can you explain how you get the truck up in the air in the first place? If I put a jack in any of the 4 spots you have shown me there is not enough room to place a jack stand.

On the underside there are spots I circled in red that should hold a jack stand if I use the pinch weld to jack the truck up. I just don't know which spots will work.

Those are the lifting poings that the jack that came with the truck use. There are arrows on the rocker panel cover that point to the pinch-welds where you lift. The jack is made to use the pinch welds for lifting. I have a floor jack that has a groove in the pad for the pinch welds. When I jack the truck up I put my jack stand as close to the jack as possible using the pinch weld. In front its about 4 inches back from the arrow point and about 3 inches forward in the rear.
I have installed the Rough Country lift kit without any issues so I know the pinch weld is strong enough to support the truck at least in those areas. And the circles in that picture are the circles in the manual that came from Ford, I didn;t draw them.
The equipment I have is old, the newest piece is about 25 years old, so using pinch welds for lifting is at least that old., in fact, I had a '69 Boss 351 that used the pinch welds for lifting but it also had a small pad on the inboard side that you could use a bottle jack on. But the jack that came with it was a scissor jack, the bumper jack was omitted bacause that car couldn;t be supported by the bumper.
Check page 351 of your owners manual. It has a picture of where on the PINCH WELD to put the jack.,

Just out of curiosity, where did you get the service manual from? Only one I've seen was from Helm.

I feel like we are talking in circles and I am sorry. My confusion came from the fact you are able to get your jack and a jack stand in together in the same spot. I tried and was unable to. Next time I need to I will try a different way to see if I can get them in at the same time. Thank you for your help.

I am not putting the jack stand and jack in the same spot, but they are both on the pinch weld that holds the floor pan, pillar supports and rocker panel on the truck. That weld is about 4 feel long and runs from just behind the front wheel well to just in front of the rear wheel well.

There is a guy that was/is selling them factory-manuals.com . They are expensive but it is the actual service manual. You have to submit your VIN but the manual is correct for your truck. The wiring manual is extra. I bought both because this will be my last vehicle, I am mid 70 so I doubt I will need another.

Thanks, the one from Ford/Helm was $300 on a CD/DVD which I thought was a ripoff. I'm use to using AllDataDIY, but, they don't have anything related to newer Fords.

AllData was great as the TSB, service bulletins, etc., were updated from time to time. Looks like a Motorcraft subscription is need for that, at a huge cost.
