It seems that the max payload includes fuel and passengers. My question is, how much max can you put on your truck bed with one driver and half tank of gas? I know is simple math but asking from the practical point of view. Thank you in advance!

Half a tank, or about 7 gallons, would be about 42 pounds. Subtract that and the weight of your theoretical driver.
Thanks. So 1450-40-220= around 1200lb so pure math.
When you go max load, should you put the engine mode into tow haul mode?
I am planning to pick up some construction material for my house and was wondering how much I can put in the bed without destroying my truck.

That might be a little dramatic :)
Your truck is not going to disintegrate if you go 10 pounds over the limit.............

Payload numbers are engineered for safety. Any time you go beyond that limit you are going beyond the designed limit but other factors are also in play. You can cause damage with a payload well below maximum if it is loaded improperly or if you are driving in severe conditions. And you can drive over the limit if the load is properly placed and you drive very carefully.

You already did the math so start with that. If you end up 100 pounds over that would not bother me, but I might drive a little slower and avoid freeways.

I carried about 1200 pounds of bricks in mine on city streets over 15 miles with just myself driving. Stopping took slightly longer, but only because I was paying close attention. Otherwise I didn't really notice they were in the bed. The rear was squated about 3" but it just looked level.

I have to take the freeway and is clear that plus/minus 100lb is not going to make a big difference but I just wanted to have a ballpark.

Just do the math, make sure everything is secure and drive carefully. I start being cautious any time I have more than half of max in the bed. Anything more than the driver means you are loading more than you are used to. So allow more room to stop, watch for idiots cutting in front of you, etc.

It’s simple. Take a look at 2 things:
Math is: GVWR# (from white door jamb safety compliance label) – Payload# (yellow label with “combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed…”) = What your Maverick weighed when it left the factory with a full tank of gas. This is NOT the “base weight” we see in Ford literature, it’s what your unique optioned Maverick weighs before you slap on all those aftermarket things.

Another way to think of it – GVWR# (door jamb safety compliance label) minus actual (not Base) vehicle weight (from the factory with full tank of gas) = actual payload lbs. on other doorjamb sticker.
