How long to wait for the engine long block replacement?

I got the dreaded MIL and the 23N06 diagnostic code P1061 a couple of weeks ago. After I got it towed to the dealership, they told me the engines are back-ordered and there's a freeze on them right now (which I took to mean Ford aren't currently producing any).

I'm wondering if anyone else has had to wait for the engine long block replacement and how long it took? My gut tells me I'm going to be waiting many months. They did give me a loaner (brand new 2024 Ford Edge), but I miss my truck. The fuel mileage on the Edge is terrible compared to my hybrid Mav. LOL.

If it goes past 30 days then file a lemon claim. You do not have to accept the buyback. I got money from Ford and my truck fixed.

There are some engines in stock..... And more on the way. Looks like some possible delays @ border.

The same engine is also involved in 23S27 (long block replacement for 23 Escape & Corsair hybrids). There are ordering restrictions to support that FSA.

It is possible that that safety recall is being prioritized over the customer satisfaction/extended coverage FSA & powertrain warranty?

Your dealer should make sure to escalate the order using VOR on DOW.

To close this off, I got a call from the dealership on August 23 letting me know the long block assembly had arrived at their service center. It took them about a week and a half, and it was ready for pick up on Sept. 4.

So, it happened on July 28, new long block arrived at dealership on Aug. 23, ready for pickup Sept. 4, about 5-6 weeks total.

Curious if you had option to pick dealership or really just 1 around?
If picked - did this one show competence so far on repairs?

When you get a free tow under the Ford warranty, they will tow to the nearest dealership, so I didn't really have a choice. It was the same dealership I've been taking it to for regular maintenance and recalls for the past couple of years, though. Driving it around, I'm not noticing anything odd (strange noises, oil leaks or anything like that), so seems good. Looking at the order, the tech just followed the WSM (Workshop Manual) procedures they had.

This has nothing to do with the consumer. Ford has admitted a component failure due to a manufacturing defect in the engine long block and is offering free replacement for 10 years or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date.

I asked about this and was told there is no "extra" warranty. She said there is no warranty on the warranty, it just continues to be covered by the original warranty.

I’m assuming you’re talking about the 60k mile warranty.
That’s disappointing. I’m at 122 and was hoping there would be an additional 60 K warranty on the engine alone.

I got a letter from Ford Canada this month saying that the engine is covered for this issue up to 10 years or 240k km (150k miles), which ever comes first. Now I don't know what the means if you happen to get it replaced at 140k miles for the issue, does that mean you get 10k miles on the new engine or are you hung out to dry if the new engine craps out 5k miles later.

What others have said is generally true.
You get a single warranty period.
The warranty period does not get extended in time or miles.

But you can have multiple replacements if you have multiple failures within the original time frame.

Does this do anything to the title? Guessing no.
When you sell the vehicle and put down the mileage on the title, most buyers would assume this milage also applies to the engine. Now you have a new engine with a title showing different miles.

Did your KEY Battery Low Replace Soon come up on your display at anytime during this issue?
Mine came up about a dozen times before I got the P1061 code and even again after the code was reset and I had the battery replaced.
