It's not the discussion of the potential defect. It just makes me sad to see someone suffering so much in their distrust of the truck. Better to not have it than to distrust it so much... If you don't feel comfortable driving it, what's the point?
Wanna buy it? Is that what this is about, because I know you don’t care if I’m suffering (I’m not). For you, only a $9999 markup. Truly a bargain for such a reliable trucklet.

That can be said of literally everything that hasn't happened. I'm lucky to have not been run over by a bus....so far. I'm lucky to have not been mauled by a bear...so far.
You’re doing well, don’t stop now.

I bet if you go on a forum dedicated to your "reliable" Toyota, you'll find plenty of anecdotes about people having significant issues. I've owned about a dozen cars, the least reliable (by a huge margin) was the vehicle with maybe the best reputation for reliability in the industry: a corolla.

Modern cars are incredibly reliable, but that doesn't mean 100% of them will be. I don't buy cars that I don't feel comfortable driving and definitely don't let fear control my life. If by chance something happens, I deal with it then.
You’re a very manly man. I can almost smell the testosterone from here.

The connector defect seems to manifest after repeated heating/cooling cycles, and with extended road vibration, because many of these dead battery reports occur in the 4000-7000 mile interval. The clock is ticking… will you be next?

I have close to 9K miles in -30°F to 100°F+ temps. Could happen to me, might not. If it happens I'll get it fixed and move on.

I had the same thoughts before a 2,000 mile trip to Colorado and back.

Then I realized I only knew about the problem from people complaining about it here and realized it was counter productive, unhealthy and foolish. Why worry about what you can not control?

Trip was great, truck averaged 33 MPG even in the heat at 82MPH on the highway.

"Don't engage with internet trolls," they said. I should have listened.

So, I’ve got about 6500 miles in on my Maverick and I’m fixing to do a 1500 mile round trip road trip. So far I’ve not had the dreaded Hybrid Dead on Road issue, and was wondering about my comfort level that everything will be ok. Last thing I want is to be going through the WV mountains and have everything quit on me.

I haven’t tracked it, but it seems like those who have had the issue had them early on. The NHTSA web site lists 20+ some complaints on the issue.

What’s everyone’s comfort level that once you clear a certain point you won’t see the issue?
I trust you. Let's go!

The title of this thread is "one" of the reasons" I am going with the EB. In all fairness having AWD and an independent rear ranked higher for me.
