I have found that by driving about 65 WITH the cruise control I get the best mpg. Just have to experiment and find your vehicles "sweet spot" for mpg. A couple of years ago I left Va Beach for Indianapolis and Nashville driving 65, even in the mountains, and averaged 48.6 mpg for the 2800 mile trip

Hello all!
Finally got a chance to drive a Maverick this weekend and liked it.
Question before I order...for those in the know on the hybrid power plant. We are hoping to give wife's Outback a break from family of (3) trips to Florida. Will the hybrid be ok to drive on long distance trips say...8 to 11 hour trips?
Sorry to sound ignorant, but I've no previous experience with this system...

Really excited about this vehicle, checks all the boxes for me as a daily.
Thanks all in advance...
YES, absolutely! We use our hybrid exclusively for long trips! The highway mpg appears less than in-town, but you will still get great mpg on the highway especially if you drive the speed limit and use ACC the whole time. I commute 130 miles twice per week, and take it from middle TN to Virginia Beach each summer. Couldn’t be happier with the mpg!

so, that’s an emphatic yes to your question!!!

(I have to be honest, once you go hybrid, it’s really hard to switch back to non-hybrid gas engine.)

You should be fine. I drove my 2013 Prius from Georgia to Massachusetts and back about a 2000 mile round trip with no issues at all.

This is great to hear(read)! I usually take three to four 13 hour drives per year to various biking destinations. Sitting for that long and comfortable seats were my main concern, usually only stop for gas/bio breaks.

Yes that was a very good question it was also one of my questions because sometimes I go from Tennessee to California so I was wondering also I had another question how good will the hybrid do in the mountains will it have enough power or not I'm talking from like 1500 feet up to maybe 5,000 feet Maybe 20 to 25% of the time. If anybody has experience driving a hybrid like the new Maverick in the mountains please let me know thank you so muchšŸ¤”

I just finished a 8009 mile trip from Va to Wa, down to Salt lake, El Paso and back to Va in my 2015 Ford Cmax Se Hybrid with 160000 miles on it. First 1500 miles I was towing my hovercraft (about 750 lbs) to Ia and averaged 40.9 MPG for the whole trip. Drove at hwy speeds of 65-80 in over 100 degree temps most of the time with the ac blowing cold the whole time. Pleasant trip overall.
My brother has a cmax and it is a great little car runs smooth as silk. I can't understand why Ford quit making them.

I drove from NYC to Denver to Lincoln City, OR in a Tesla. You’ll have no issues in a hybrid + gotta love having a spare tire on the maverick!

My experience with hybrid cars on long trips has been great—good fuel economy and they handle all kinds of roads without any issues. Sure, there might be times when the hybrid runs mostly on the gas engine, especially on long, flat stretches, but that's just how they work. You won’t really feel any difference.
Also, what I've learned is that NYC and its boroughs aren’t immune to scams. If you’re making stops on your trip, be cautious and make sure you're aware of your surroundings.

Iā€˜ve did 20 states and just under 8K miles cross-country (and back). It was great. Hoping to get to the lower 48 at some point.
