I had a 24 Lariat Hybrid for 7 months & 3K miles. Really liked the mileage as well as it fit my “old guy” needs perfectly. But, it was a “rattler” from both the dash and above the headliner. Even on minor bumps, cracks, etc it rattled. I did quiet a lot of noise by putting a piece of tape on the sunvisor clips, but it was still noisy. Traded it for a 19 F150 XLT. This is a very nice truck, but it’s HUGE to me. Don’t need this much truck.
I miss the size & functionality of the Maverick.
I want another but EcoBoost AWD. I don’t need/use all the bells/whistles of the Lariat. I’m looking for a XLT with LUX pkg. There are a few near me but with FX4 pkg. I’ll likely never go off road or use as it‘s equipped for, but I do like the larger display area in the dash, and from what I read here, CVs don’t fail like on Hybrids. Don’t drive that much so fuel mileage isn’t an issue. I’ve had Rangers, a Silverado & F150, so I’m used to how pickups ( never had 4X4) ride.
i‘m not interested in a 25 due to “knobless” Infotainment & HVAV controls.

So my question is: Does the Maverick FX4 pkg ride “rougher” than a standard Maverick around town?

Thanks for any opinions.

I can't compare to other Mavericks but My 2024 FX4 is very smooth. My 2001 Ranger Extended cab had stiff springs and the bumps rattled my teeth. Maverick FX4 drives great.

I have a '24 XLT FX4 built in August and it rides great. Mine might be a unicorn, but even after many miles off road, it has no interior rattles.

The FX4 is better than the hybrid, but the Tremor is easily the best, get a XLT Tremor before they sell out

I believe there is a new TSB to address rattling in the dash.

As for the difference between the two, I am nicely positioned to answer. I have a hybrid and my brother has an FX4. The FX4 rides nicer, is a little softer, and floats (in a good way) down the road better than the hybrid. The hybrid is just a little stiff with the suspension and the type of rear suspension is naturally harsher. The FX4 is truck like while the hybrid is sedan like.

Another thing I would like to point out is road noise. The FX4 sitting just a little higher has less road noise.

Great insights. Additionally all of the AWD models have a better suspension than the FWD. Independent rear (AWD) vs twist beam (FWD). Front suspensions are the same.

I have a 23 maverick FX4 and it rides and handles well. The suspension is on the stiffer side, yet it is compliant and doesn’t bounce around like body on frame. It feels well planted and I do not have rattles or interior noises. My wife has a standard maverick AWD and we both agree the FX4 is the better ride; however, I do have the upgraded wildpeaks running at 33psi which may help. Also, I believe FX4 has monotube rear shocks and standard AWD has twin tube. As someone mentioned above the tremor will give you the plushest ride of all of them.

I have the Lariat FX4 and it rides quite well.. Since they're unibody, the do ride more car like which coming from Mustang GT's is a bit of a bonus in a truck. Like you, I won't do much off-roading but nice to know I can.

...and according to the Ford spec sheet you posted the only difference in the FX4 (from standard AWD) is monotube rear shocks with incorporated hydraulic bumpstops.

Not at all very smooth as a matter of fact it's sometimes too smooth when you look down and you realize you're doing 80 and you don't feel like your moving at all 🤣

I have an FX4 and it rides great. I use to have an Explorer and cannot really tell much difference. Any one that gets a ride in my truck tells me it is a good ride.

I know the shocks and springs are probably better than in a hybrid. I have panels in my FX4 underneath that protect my truck better than a hybrid. The only hassle is 13(?) screws that the dealer has to remove to change my oil, but they do not charge me anymore for that.

The only complaint I have vs the Explorer is loss of interior space to haul things.

My FX4 is a lot stiffer than my old Buick LeSabre but most of our roads are crap.

I think my '88 F350 crew cab rides better.

I'm going to lower the air pressure in my tires a bit to see how that works.

I'm used to lots of miles in big trucks whose ride can rattle your teeth...
plus driving dirt track stock cars on rough tracks going sideways @100 mph.

Both kinda put the Mavericks ride in perspective.

Mine rides fine. I've had small cars for the last several years and the Maverick rides as smooth or smoother than they did. Had a '94 Mitsubishi Mighty Max for a lot of years before that. That little beast is pretty much the roughest riding contraption I ever had short of a 2 ton hay truck. Maverick is a Sedan DeVille compared to it..
