It will be my first hybrid. The results of this poll thus far and the reasons given by first time hybrid buyers show what a home run the Maverick is. Ford needs to get the hybrid production cranked up! 👍

Usually a hybrid is over a couple thousand dollars for the upgrade, and it never will recoup the cost on fuel savings....so I have never done that...but again, that was when gas was cheap...seems so long ago.
Hybrid standard, mpg, and price is the only reason for this, for me.

IMO hybrids are the best of both worlds...no reliance on the power company, weather or the grid going down.

I would rather this be an SUV....I don’t need a pickup...to me this is like a cheap prius, or a very capable econobox...but I know I am an outlier from most of the posters.

This will be my first hybrid. Never thought of a hybrid but I have never cared for turbos. Just wanted a small truck.

Im about as ungreen as one can get. But I like Trucks and this fits in my garage. Hybrid Ok. If it's not to my liking off it will go. Anything over 15MPG is in my wheelhouse.

I’ve been both a hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) owner for over the past 10 years.

IMO PLUG-IN hybrids are the best of both worlds...no reliance on the power company, weather or the grid going down or the gas station.
FTFY. ;)

The beauty of dual-fuels.

There are numerous hybrid “SUV’s” the size of the Mav: escape (Mav is using its drivetrain), RAV4, and CR-V are all very popular examples.

I needed a truck, speed is not an issue, technology changes...time for a vehicle that would please me on those points.

Depends on how he optioned his XLT Hybrid and whether he wants to buy new. Rav4 and CR-V hybrids are going to cost a lot more than a base Maverick XLT Hybrid. Dunno about the Escape.

Doesn't matter. If he really wanted a hybrid suv he could have one. If he just wants a cheap hybrid then he can't really complain.

No one was complaining. He was making a statement.

Not complaining...just saying the price point, mpg, and dual fuels are a win....I’d prefer an SUV that’s all...BS was made too small, Bronco too capable (and pricey!)

All the ones mentioned as hybrids are more expensive and less capable...

First hybrid for me, but I really wish it was a plug-in hybrid with a larger battery. I can't wait for the eventual Maverick EV!

Why can’t you wait for a EV? How is a full EV better than a hybrid?

Better performance (torque, acceleration, AWD response) from a simpler powertrain that requires less maintenance and overall last longer. Bonus points for being quieter and no tailpipe emissions. Towing is probably the biggest drawback though, but for me that's less important in a small truck like the Maverick.

First hybrid purchase was a 2015 Optima Hybrid.. good car, but not great efficiency. Have been looking for the "right" hybrid for a long time now. This is it.
I had a 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Yeah the gas mileage wasn't that great for a hybrid (especially by today's standards), but I really liked the regular geared transmission and the smooth transition from electric to gas, and that I could drive in EV mode at highway speeds.
