How does everyone wash their Maverick?

When we did the mustangs across America trip we sprayed the front end with Pam cooking spray. The bugs slid right off the front end while driving. Harley shops have a spray called Bugslide works good also, just costs way more.

Ah yes the Harley tax,
We used Pam with the Florida love bugs.
Used to come home after work and drape beach towels over the front end and windshield, soak em down with the hose.
Take a shower, eat supper Then go hang the towels over the fence and hose the bug guts off the towels.
They now came right off the car with ease.

IMHO, a good wax job of at least two or more coats is one of the best ways to keep bugs from sticking in the first place. Rehydrate the bugs for removal. Several products help with the rehydration process and some are not as kind to your wax job as others. Dawn is one of the best things I've used but it will remove wax. Goop off, goof off or something with a similar name works well on bugs and tar but the same thing, removes wax.

I bought a small tool cart for all the car/motorcyle cleaning/detailing supplies we keep. Foam cannons, foam guns you name it we probably got it. She even got a small shop vac for her cars she won't let me touch. Says mines to dirty for her car.

Local touchless car was does good in cold or lazy times.

Road trips on the Harleys I keep some of that bug slide handy. After they bake makes it harder for sure. And as mentioned prior to my post, hotel bath towels soaked in hot water do a fine job for love bugs and other insects. Not sure if it's humidity or what but I've been in Florida and have this mist like dew on the bikes, middle of the day, and bugs seem to slide off. Again I think it's wax that helps more than anything.

Careful with orbital buffers. One of my buddies took the paint off his Harleys gas tank with one of those.

Hand wash in the driveway when it rains (no access to water for hose) in the spring i will take it up to touchless car wash after i first hand wash her. So much easier to wash than taller longer F150s of my past

Added ceramic coating full treatment. I have a power washer with a soap gun that I use. Them I drive it around the block a few times and by the time I get back, only a little detail hand drying is needed. Them cool thing is like on the hood the water doesn't just bead..it looks like it actually pools with the ceramic coating so drive drying works great

Goop off, goof off or something with a similar name works well on bugs and tar but the same thing, removes wax.

Please do not use Goof Off on paint! I have seen many cases of paint damage that it has caused. Goo Gone Automotive is a safe product to use, and the spray would be a good choice, but also will remove wax. WD-40 is also good for hydrating the bugs.

I found a 40v Ryobi 2000 psi pressure washer w 2 batteries for like 75% off Home Depot.

quick connect water supply and stuff, foam cannon.

makes job fun and bugs slide off after soaking a bit

car wash either spray wand or brush/roller tunnel. it's an xl truck. i drive it and carry things in it. no special treatment. steel wheels too.

I've always used touchless car washes, but I'm a little worried about putting a soft tonneau though either type of automatic wash, anyone tried?

No carwash, always by hand. Bugs off ASAP. With my old cars I used touchless car washes, it was useless for taking off bugs even though it was a high pressure system.

Same with bird poop , get it off quick,or else paint will show it .

Depends on the vehicle and "how nice" it is and how much in turn I clean it.. The Subaru Forester was ok.. but I washed it 1X a month unless stuff like mud, salt in the winter was prevalent then more often.. it was a Subaru Forester.. nothing special about it, its not cool or something that demands extra care to make it look nice... so typical going through your standard car wash.. maverick is almost in the same category I will do standard car wash in the winter maybe a few hand washes in the summer(nicer/warmer) weather.

last cars I had that I hand washed only.. 1991 Taurus SHO 5 speed that was built to over 300 HP

and thats about it for hand wash only ones.. ive not had anything since or before those ones that warranted washing it often or keeping it awesome looking because it was a "hot car".
