If we keep talking about how we need to be gentle and kind with our Mavericks, the guys driving the big trucks are going to laugh at our "trucklette"......
It’s ok, we can wave at them as we pass the gas stations.

Thanks for all the ideas and recommendations. I hate the automated touchless as they always miss things. Usually wash by hand in driveway. One bucket (never heard about two) with a soft brush and yellow non spotting liquid soap.

White XLT hybrid with hitch only. Dealer washed it. 3 days later I foamed it, washed with mit (rinsing it between rubs), then with fake sham dried it then leaf blower dried the rims. Clay bar next, followed by carnauba wax. inside of bed also done.

Since 1963, I think I have gone to an automated car wash 4 or 5 times. Now especially at my age I need the exercise being retired. I usually clay once a year and wax twice a year and usually wash once or twice a month depending on how my vehicle looks. My 3 motorcycles, Maverick and Prius fit snuggly in my 2 car garage every night.

One week in and my truck is almost ready for the first car wash. I am wondering how do you all wash your trucks. The first car wash at the dealership already left some swirl marks in the paint and I want to avoid to get more in. Any tips, especially with the bed cover on?
In the past if I wanted a good wash other than just a touch less, I would take a bucket, sponge and quality soap like Meguiers gold and take it to a self serve place rinse it off sponge it and rinse it off again.

my biggest issue is not the washing, it is the drying. I think it takes more times and efforts to properly dry a truck than washing it.

Wash by hand, use a wash and wax combo. Couldn't be bothered to do anything more, never had problems with paint on my vehicles.
