What is the best way to oxidize aluminum?

Habitual touch less carwash without drying between the fender and hood is the cause? I really didn't think aluminum could brown oxidize. My roommate's Chrysler 200's hood is missing a ton of paint and it almost looks galvanized not brown

take some rubbing compound or buffing compound and a microfiber and see if it comes off! not sure where its coming from
Aluminum rust is whitish and seals off the aluminum from further rust until it's removed.

Might be the wax injector (if ran through automatic car wash ) is malfunctioning. Last time I went through one the roof of mine had about a pint of wax concentrate splattered on it!.

Aluminum oxidizes to a whitish powder, you have to "pickle" aluminum and zinc (galvanized) coatings to be able to paint. Removing the oxidized powder is dicey, though and should be done carefully. I use white vinegar to pickle aluminum and zinc.
The hood is pretty well sealed, so what did you do to get it to oxidize?
