I've been wondering about those indents. I think they're a throwback styling nod to the hood scoops on the original Maverick Grabber. Anyone really know?
I don't know about the original Mav, but my 2015 F150 did the same thing.

Sorry for the terminology, but this is more of a squirt than a spray since it builds up water in the "performance dent" on either side of the hood, then when you brake that water streams toward the front edge of the hood and then the wind squirts it back on your otherwise clean windshield.

So my question is... do the hood guard/protectors for the front edge of the hood block the blow back "squirt" and allow the water to run off the hood cleanly when braking?
We are NOW COMPLAINING that our Maverick gets wet in the rain?????!!!!! You people are going to drive me away from this forum, and it is the only ray of sunshine in my otherwise overcast life.

I have the hood guard on mine and it still does it, doesn't bother me

This is the way, I will look into it. It is mostly me watching the water bead up and pool in the dent and then waiting for it to happen, and the scoop covers the dents real nice.

While it isn't a big deal, it is the only vehicle I have owned in 50 years of driving that does this. My opinion on how it happens is that under braking, the water runs forward, and like a little waterfall, runs onto the bumper where it splashes high enough to end up back on the windshield. What does annoy me is after a rain when you open a back door, rain water falls into the vehicle as it lays in the door seal.

I'm bummed. As hard as I try I can't get mine to do this.

Not many opportunities since it doesn't rain much here.

Had a 2023 it did it very frequently.
Traded for a 2025 for other reasons it has done it maybe 3 times in 3 months.
This is much less than the 2023 would do it.
I have driven the 2025 in many rainy conditions both highway and city traffic.
The new grille design seems to reduce the frequency dramatically.
Perhaps there are other reasons, the hood 'dent' seems exactly the same as the 2023.
On the 2023 it used to happen even when stopped, perhaps the cooling fan would kick on and blow the water back up the hood.
Adding a deflector to the 2023 hood did seem to reduce the frequency a bit not nearly as much as whatever they did on the 2025 design.
I was very annoyed at the 2023 for this but contend Ford fixed the design adequately on the 2025.
