My Maverick has been at the collision repair center for two months waiting on the Active Shutter system. Supposedly its on national back order. The repair facility has submitted an emergency request, but we have no word on when it will be available. Does anyone have any hookups or information that would help?

Why is the collision repair center holding it hostage? You can drive the Maverick without active shutters. You may lose a few MPGs and it would throw an error code via a code reader but typically it wouldn't cause the check engine light to come on.

You should ask for the vehicle back and you can take it back in to get fully repaired when the parts come in

100% the active shutter system not working, or absent does not make the vehicle unsafe in any way. I would pick it up and tell them to let me know when it comes in

F150 owners remove or disable them all the time, no issues. Can't see the Maverick being any different. They are there strictly for aerodynamics at higher speeds

LX6Z8472E on D99 backorder, which is worst case scenario. 306 on backorder with 795 coming in. Remarks say it should be off b/o 1/10/23. assuming that happens, should arrive at your dealer about a week after that date.

Isn't in one of the tsb's that they take these out?

The body shop would be doing you a favor to return the vehicle to you without that nonsense.

Because they cannot complete the repair - they cannot completely put the vehicle back together in a condition allegedly comparable to before the collision - without receiving final parts. They'd have to partially tear it back down to install the remaining parts even if they were to button it up and release it back to the owner. Could be on the shop, could be on the insurance company, could be both who insist on holding the vehicle until the repairs are fully completed.

Whether you agree with that or not, that's the likely reasoning.

It's actually a recall, not a TSB, as it is a fire prevention method. Feel free to read the various threads discussing it if you'd like to learn more.

As others have noted, the Active Grille Shutter feature is still present on Mavericks built after the recall, and on those repaired pursuant to the recall. Essentially there's the frame to which the vanes (think shutters) are attached to. Those vanes close and almost act like window blinds, they just primarily are concerned with blocking air flow instead of light. Based on various parameters including engine temp, the computer can adjust how open/closed those are. All the recall did to the AGS array was to remove a couple of those vanes, meaning that there will always be some airflow through even when the rest are completely closed. Imagine taking out a couple of blinds from your window. Some light will always be able to peak through (during the day, anyway), if you remove them, or if they break off (don't they always?).

Thanks thought the recall removed all the blades.

Hi,
I am in the same situation, waiting for the active shutter after hitting a deer, did you get the part yet?
Thanks
