I just purchased a 2025 maverick with the 2.0 ecoboost engine. It is a week old with around 250 miles, and I have noticed that it has a high idle. I was wondering if anyone with a maverick, with the same engine, around the same model year, has had any issues with this. Keep in mind that I didn't test drive one before purchase, because the vehicle I had before decided to die, so I needed a vehicle to get back and forth to work. I just dropped it off today to have the modem replaced, as it wouldn't connect to the ford pass app, and told them to check it out. While I was there I spoke with the salesman and had him grab a different maverick so I could compare the 2. The truck he grabbed had the loud noise that comes with higher idle, but it didn't last as long as it does on mine. I also noticed that my truck has a whine on the passenger side while shifting gears, and the one I drove today has the same noise. My question is, has anyone had the same issue with their maverick being louder than normal, and a higher idle, and does it need a break in period? It just doesn't sit right with me that a brand new truck is that loud. Thanks for any answers you can give.

...does it need a break in period?
The new vehicle break-in period is the first 1,000 miles, per the owner's manual. Keep it under 70mph and drive gently for 1k miles.

But that should have nothing to do with your ecoboost's high idle.

Especially since you've now been in two 2025s for comparison - what do you consider "high" idling? Meaning what RPM is your maverick idling at and for how long?

The 2.0 EcoBoost definitely has a higher and rougher idle than vehicles but I never found it problematic in my 2023 Tremor.

Not remotely the same but my 2025 Hybrid goes from silent to roaring when it first cold starts and I'm leaving the neighborhood. Between 20-25mph going up a slight grade and it gets really loud when going back downhill and "engine" braking. Happens for about 30 seconds and then settles right in.

My maverick stays around 2000-2500 rpm's for about a minute and a half after starting, and sounds like my foot is on the gas the whole time. The other one i was in only idled about 1500-2000 for around 20-30 seconds then eased up.

I do see you're in MI and temps are colder. Is it parked outside?

Grab a video for us if you can, inside on a cold start so we can see and hear it. Could also then pop outside and get some audio of the Singer doing its thing!

It is parked in a garage. It won't let me upload the video i have and I can't get a new one because it's already at the shop. When I took the video it was 46 degrees outside and the engine was already warmed up because I had already been starting it to see if the problem persisted.

My 2025 engine idles high as well. Once i kick into reverse or drive it goes down. This engine is loud still. I didn't really notice that during test drive. This is one thing i don't like about my truck.

How long have you had your maverick, and how many miles did it have on it when you picked it up?

Weird. Mine will idle at around 1300RPM for a minute but then it'll move down to just below 1,000. I figure that is an early run procedure to ensure everything is properly lubricated before driving. I usually wait for it to do so before putting it in gear. It usually takes about that long for CarPlay to fire up anyway.

What do you have your HVAC set to? That might play a role.

I've had mine since January with 30 miles, got about 1,100 miles on it now.

Is it still loud even with 1100 miles? The service tech told me to wait the break in period of 1000 miles and if it still continues, to bring it back in. I am also having issues with the pcu not allowing ford pass to connect. The replaced it and did the update with it but now the screen is responding slowly. I have the worst luck with brand new vehicles.

I have also found that my idle is higher and longer than usual. I've found the colder it is, the longer it will idle high. During the very cold months here, it would idle 1500-2000rpm for 5-10 minutes. When I would get in and put it into drive it would go back down to under 1000.

So in the warmer months, does it still idle high. What ye
