And as the average weight of all vehicles is rising, that means an increased risk of injuries when vehicles crash. The weight only helps you if you have the heaviest vehicle. If an F-250 crashes into an F-250, the result is worse than a smart car crashing into a smart car.
The weight helps in more than just if you're in the heaviest vehicle, right? If I run into an F-250, I'll fare way better if I'm in an F-150 than if I'm in a Ranger or Maverick or Dodge Neon.

Hopefully their engines don't fail like their 6.2L's... 🤘

Somewhat I suppose, but the vehicle with the most mass will still win, so to speak.

There is much more to crash safety than just mass. First of all, a lighter, more maneuverable vehicle is better able to avoid a crash.

Second, things like airbags, good brakes (they do less work in a lighter vehicle), crumple zones, and engines designed to go under the vehicle in a collision help.

Volvo didn't get a great reputation for safety because of vehicle mass.

correct. it helps in any case in which your vehicle absorbs kinetic energy from another; the larger vehicle weight means that you are a lower portion of the total mass.

A secondary positive effect may be that as your vehicle's weight increases as compared to the other, it's velocity will be affected less, so less energy absorbed to distribute.

Somewhat I suppose, but the vehicle with the most mass will still win, so to speak.
I've always called this "the law of conservation of metal"

If they want to truly compete in the USA with the Ford Maverick Hybrid that is wonderful. Competition can keep prices reasonable.

Just a matter of time but here is what I found out about it. Plus I just rid myself of a Chevy and have no plan to go back. My 2014 F150 STX had steering wheel controls for hand free calling, radio etc. 2023 Silverado custom? NOPE. It was a lustful purchase that I regretted 1 month later. Based purely on looks not need or anything else. Lesson learned. The Chevy with a turbo 4 used more gas than the 2014 Ford with a 5.0 V8.
" The Montana is currently sold in Latin America and is built on a different platform than vehicles sold in the US. To sell it in the US, Chevrolet would likely need to either build a factory in North America or heavily modify the existing model to meet US safety and emissions standards. "
I had a Silverado with the turbo 4 last year as a work rental, what an absolute piece of junk.

Yikes. And yet, the Ford Maverick EB has 250 hp. So by comparison, the Maverick has 120 more horsepower. Man, talk about underpowered! If Chevrolet eventually decides to bring it to our market, they definitely need to put a bigger engine in it. At least a 4-cylinder turbo within the 200 hp realm.
What, is the bed three feet long? WTF?
