How is a truck that is going to be competing with the Ranger Raptor a copy cat and warrant a Lightning version of the Maverick? Ford can't even keep up with production now, they definitely don't need be adding anything else to the equation. We will see if they even come out with the Maverick ST in the next couple of years. If so, I will definitely order one but it will be a hurry up and wait situation I am sure.

It's simple, Kia, will have the production capabilities in place, Ford had the perfect storm happen to them.
1) COVID
2) Supple Chain issues
3) higher than expected demand

KIA, will have everything they need to make the trucks.

Sucks, but certainly a possibility.

I'm actually all for it. Since I'm a car enthusiast, I love all sorts of brands and I'm not partial to just one. I think Kia should build their own truck. It makes sense to give the automakers a run for their money. And with Kia's major improvement in build quality in the last few years, it would be a great place to spend some time in. My best friend and I absolutely love new Kia products, our favorites being the Telluride and Soul. And funny enough, we've been imagining in our heads about what if Kia came out with their own truck? I know they have the resources to do it and plus they technically have one already in the form of the Hyundai Santa Cruz since Hyundai and Kia are co-owned. Now it's time to have Kia come out with their own interpretation, whether it's a unibody compact or a more traditional mid-size body-on-frame. If only they would bring the Mojave to our market since there coming out with a pickup version but the only reason they won't is because there's too many SUVs in Kia's U.S. market that there's just no room for it. Even though in my mind it would still sell well.

That is absolute junk. Its cover photo is a Ford Ranger photoshop with the Kia logo and tail lights. Kia WILL be building a truck, shared with the Santa Cruz platform in the next couple of years, but it won't be competing with the Maverick as it will be more up market as is the Santa Cruz. It won't be anything like that fantasy clickbait.

I predict much lower volume and sales than something like the Maverick or even the Ranger. There wont be jack for fleet sales. But they will probably make a buck off it anyways as long as they use alot of existing components.

Would not count Kia out. They have been building quality products for years and this Ranger competition probably would not be the exception.
Definitely. Those Theta engines were some real hot stuff!

Not for sale in US or Canada. Kia working on truc for long long time.

Would you consider Maverick a copy of the 4 door compact trucks available outside of the US?
Chevy had a 4 door S 10 in 2004. I really don't know where it all began. Maybe Ford looked at all the small trucks not available in the US and tried to fill the niche. The original Ford ranger was very popular. Going back farther in 78 a buddy of mine had a Hilux.
