That is absolute junk. Its cover photo is a Ford Ranger photoshop with the Kia logo and tail lights. Kia WILL be building a truck, shared with the Santa Cruz platform in the next couple of years, but it won't be competing with the Maverick as it will be more up market as is the Santa Cruz. It won't be anything like that fantasy clickbait.
Ok, I took the bait

It's amazing to me that people actually believe KIA and Hyundai make quality vehicles.
Same could be said of Ford.....their record for quality sucks and Jim Farley even said so....as well as he said it will take them years to get to a quality vehicle.....

I suspect a Telluride based unibody pickup is in the cards for KIA eventually.. However, with the power and relaitive lower economy of a V6 Turbo Engine, it's size, and luxury appointments it competes with trucks above the Maverick class, rather GM Canyon and loaded Ridgelines, etc...

What the OP has posted here is just a clickbait photoshop that's been weaving it's way around the innerwebs for a couple of weeks.

I am still unaware of how it is a copy cat of anything except a Ranger Raptor? Who cares anything about this really? Has nothing to do with the Maverick or making Ford come out with an even more expensive Maverick Lightning. The last thing Ford needs to do is add even more stuff to the Maverick line that nobody can get due to constraints when they can't even build all of the ordered trucks out there now. Competition is a good thing in the auto world, I don't have a problem with it. But, this isn't competition for the Maverick plain and simple.

To each their own I guess, but I didn't find the Santa Cruz up market in design(cost yes) I did look at both and cost wasn't the differentiator, to me it lacked any real truckiness and all the piano black surfaces on the interior seemed cheap and would be dust and fingerprint magnets. I know to others that may be a plus and I guess it's good there are choices.

Funny. Another photoshopped Ford truck which is supposed to be a competitor to it.

Kia has been rumored to be working on a smaller truck for over a decade. There's been body-on-frame concepts years ago, so this is nothing new.
Like I've said with the rumored Toyota and Ram -- which we may actually have something in sheet metal to speculate on with the Ram, but we can bench race them when they actually exist in our market and concrete details of these vehicles are officially released by their manufacturers.

Kia, Mitsubishi, and Nissan have body-on-frame trucks and suv's they don't sell or build in North America. Most of the media attention has been that the Kia will be a Hilux or Ranger competitor.

I doubt we see this truck in the US due to the Chicken Tax and limitations of KORUS.
