So for additional info, where I live it is 1.6 miles to a paved road, each way, every time I go anywhere... just to begin with. There are a LOT of dirt/gravel roads around me. I am still leaning towards the Sumitomos at this point, even though they are last.

Not exactly off roading as I am a Jeeper in a previous life, and I know what constitutes off-road... just major ruts on gravel roads just to get anywhere.

Then you need a 3 peak rated tire or something close.

If you go to tire rack look at the category called "on road all terrain". This is the sort of tire people need if you plan on doing mostly highway driving with just a bit of off roading thrown in. The falken a/t trails are on the list.

I had the Sumitomo P02s (older version) on my old Murano, and they were excellent in the rain, good in the snow, and wearing well when I sold it with about 20-30k on the tires. I'll definitely consider them when my Maverick needs new shoes (probably before next winter--the OE Continentals are down to about 6/32" with 16k on the clock).

So do I and then some. I've had A/T's on everything I've owned and unless they never maintain that road and it's a disaster where you need massive tread to get a grip, the A/T's are pointless.

Get what you want, but the sacrifice for minimal easy dirt roads in my experience isn't worth it. Personally I feel I've outgrown the need for A/T's and the last truck I actually used them on would have benefited more from M/T's than anything else. They were not DD vehicles.

Lightweight for keeping high hybrid MPG and 3 peak rated for better than average snow performance.

One of those will be our next tire (on both the Mav and our AWD Sienna hybrid) - likely will come down to pricing and sizes available when we need to buy. Firestones treadwear warranty is on the shorter side at 55k, is the main negative of the two I'd say.

Picked up a chunk of metal yesterday on my XL Coninental factory tires, has anyone run Michelin Cross Climate tires ? I have had them on other vehicles we have owned (mostly SUV's). Not too impressed with the factory tires in wet weather.

So if you're going to use your Maverick like a car, why bother with AT tires that will only harm fuel economy and add road noise compared to a normal passenger car tire? I love my Wildpeak Trails, had them on two different vehicles; they're great for my application, but yours sounds quite different.
I shall use my Mav mostly like car but also drive on gravel roads/light off road quite often. I want traction and puncture resistance and a slightly taller tire for more ground clearance with out a lift. In addition where I live, we can get, from time to time, quite a bit of snow.

I ran into a similar situation last winter and ended up going with a set that held up great in slush and freezing rain without being too loud. If you’re around Quebec and want solid advice or help swapping tires, commercial truck tire service Montreal has a few guys who really know their stuff and won’t upsell you on things you don’t need. Helped me out big time last season.

I went with a set that balances daily driving comfort and light off-road grip since I'm on pavement most days but like hitting trails occasionally. Snow traction was a big factor too.
Which set it this? I bought the Mastercraft ATX. I drove them may be 200 miles on unpaved/gravel roads, work very well. On paved road they perform well also and the noise is hardly noticeable. I bought 235/65/17
