Hello everyone. Thought I would ask for other people’s thoughts.

My truck didn’t come with the luxury package, but I still want the heated seats.

can I diy my own heated seats?
Not only install the heated seats but install a new Climate Control module that has the heated seats buttons. I can see some issues that could come up like the wiring and stuff, but thought I should see what others have to share.

There Is an old thread by someone who did this mod.

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/heated-seat-install.25964/

I have a 23 Hybrid XL and have purchased a heating element kit from Amazon. I am recovering from a knee replacement and have not done the work yet but plan to do what the poster did.

I may decide to just stick the heating elements on the outside of the original seats and under the seat covers that I use.

I seen that one but my only difference is installing the heated seats climate control module and wiring it to that rather than the buttons they give me

I would suggest start with buying a copy of the helm wiring manual for it. Then from there it should be easy to get the wiring right. you will also need an obd2 adapter and a computer for forscan to enable it. remember to take your time and double check everything as you go. Seeing as to its related to the bronco sport I can check that book when I get home tomorrow for a couple of pictures. Official ford heat element will be attached to the seat cushion and then the seat harness should also be replaced for a better connection.

Dunno what your budget is, but most dealerships will refer you to a local shop that they trust to do this. I had my ancient Miata done, both seats, for $500.

I bought a 12v heating pad at amazon for $20. my wife loves it. i store it under the back seat when not in use..
I have two of those up front with some body glove seat covers I had that fit reasonably well - ditch the 12v line and switch under the seat in the warmer temps - Works just as well as my Wifes Vehicle that has OEM heated seats.

Merry Christmas all

Cheers

If you can’t install your own heated seat system, worst case scenario, just where thermal insulated pants. 😁

It can be done with factory parts, expect to pay four or five hundred for parts of purchased new. You can even add a heated steering wheel with factory parts if you want since the HVAC controller with heated seats will also have a provision for heated wheel. If you can manage to get these parts from a salvage yard I would expect 200-300. You would need upper and lower heating elements, new wiring harness for the seats and the HVAC controller at minimum. On my XL the wiring from the under hood fuse block to the HVAC controller is already there for heated seats.

I have Wet Okole seat covers on the front and rear seats. I had them install the heating elements to the front seats. Right now, they plug into a cigarette lighter for now. I may take a look at the factory console replacement (mentioned above) to get the factory heated seat switches.

Good topic to bring up during the winter! :)

The thing with trying to wire non-OEM heated seats into the factory climate control system is the stock units have a temp-sense thermistor circuit. And I wouldn't be surprised if the HVAC module is tuned for a certain amount of load from the seat-heater elements and would fault shut down if an aftermarket unit doesn't match that profile.

Do you know how to locate the wiring from the under hood fuse block in the HVAC controller? It would be nice to pull power from there if possible. I was going to remove the cover to access the radio for an audio upgrade.

I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a 4 pad front seat heater kit from ebay it comes with switches and wiring harness. I’ve installed the same kits in a 2011 Nissan Leaf and a 14 Honda civic and my 16 GMC Canyon. This maverick should be no different.

If you have good imagination, these will work😜
