Oh by the way , most of the plastic( abs) seems to have no flex agents in them at all , when these mavs get hit up front and any of the plastics jerk at all they shatter. In other words get hit in the left fender , $280,the plastics headlight on that side explodes into a hundred pieces, $1300 the plastic surround of the shutter grill usually shatters into 10 or more pieces,$200, the shutter setup in front of radiator breaks into a few pieces,$300 ,the radiators giant shroud that holds it all to the crash bar cracks into a few pieces ,$900 ,and the grill,$500, and on average the right headlight cracks in one or places or loses a tab or two ,$1300 more .plus labor it’s about 7k if you get his on one fender. This doesn’t account for the bumper covers and paint for them if they get damaged.another 2k.
This is why new cars are getting totaled so quickly .
You through in bumper covers, a hood and an airbag or 2 and usually a windshield ( because glass is getting thinner)and your at 50% loss on the vehicle replacement cost !

Both my headlights had to be replaced after a run in with an wayward deer. They were $1,200 a piece
Do you think those deer whistles work?

What are you talking about?
I have had my truck for a week now and I've been flashed 3 times.
They are super bright, putting out a wide beam without that look of 2 headlights. And the brights are very bright.
I actually agree with the OP. My first week I got flashed 3 times, at the same time I was traveling 55 down a dark country road and felt they "weren't bright enough".
Something is "off"
Reading all the comments, it's possible they are wide, but not focused enough straight in front.

Funny I do get flashed occasionally by other drivers when using low beams but i have never been impressed with how much they illuminate.. just OK in my view.

Consumer reports has a unusually harsh ssessment--below--of the low beams...

"...The low beams provide only “fair” levels of light straight ahead down the road. They don’t give enough light for the driver to adequately see, react, and brake for anything ahead when speeds reach about 60 mph. Sideward visibility was rated at “good,” which is lower than the levels of sideward visibility we typically see with better-performing LED headlights. Sideward visibility can help drivers see pedestrians and wildlife entering from the sides of the road, or in navigating corners.
Wow, after just one week of driving I would completely agree with that CR statement. That was my exact experience.

I can see much better after I had my cataract surgery two years ago.
For those that don't know astigmatism is an issue that causes problems at night because the eyeball is squeezed and causes glare in the eyeball.

I put 6 of the deer whistles on the front grill after that. Do they work? I have no real idea, but they are cheap enough to try and not very noticeable unless you look for them.

Ahhh! Explains why I see approaching expanded headlights as 6-8 pointed stars almost touching each other. I elected to not have the custom corrected cornea due to the $1400/eye cost (might have been more). I just use my glasses which are corrected only for astigmatism at night. They only partially reduce the "starburst" effect so maybe I need a better correction?
I also have a large number of floaters which causes me to not notice my glasses are dirty until the are excessively dirty.

I get flashed off and on with these headlights. Maybe you need to get your night vision checked or something. I am 75 years old and can see great at night with these lights.
My previous vehicle, a 2014 Taurus SEL had horrible headlights. I am more than pleased with my Maverick's LED's.

Odd, these are the best headlights of any vehicle I've ever owned. For a super cheap vehicle Ford got the headlights right, to me at least.
agree with this 100%. Am 66 y/o and have owned many vehicles, mostly Fords both new and used 👍

I would think it depends on your speed. At highway speeds, I doubt the dear has the reaction time needed but city speeds, it has a chance

I feel that the cost of these head lights is ridiculous. Maybe its because they do not have enough to supply tot he replacement parts market yet, or something. I have a 2018 Hyundai Sonata limited with he adaptive head light. They are absolutely amazing and have save me from hitting deer at least twice. I will miss them when my truck finally comes in. Those light only cost about $600 - $1000 new (depending on where you buy them from) per side to replace. There is no real reason Ford should be charging that much for a few LED bulbs and plastic that don't move. IMHO

The headlights on the Mav are not great IMO - OK but not great. I think the problem is that they are LED and lack the full spectrum. It is a well known issue with LED headlights. The wavelength produced by these ultra-white LEDs induces glare and doesn't travel far. The best solution is to supplement with amber lights.

On both my previous Audi and my wife's Outback I added amber bulbs to the fog/driving lights (standard wattage) and it made a HUGE improvement to nighttime visibility while reducing glare and not blinding other drivers. And the difference is even more pronounced in inclement weather!

I'm looking into adding auxiliary amber lights to the Mav.
that's what I said in a prior reply, yes.

many in this thread still don't get it. the LED lights the Maverick uses seem to have a lot of dispersion and glare from precipitation, and we don't have fog lights at all.

they throw a lot of light in dry, clear conditions. everyone is focused on that for some reason, but the OP is in Oregon and I have a feeling he's in snowy or wet conditions pretty often this time of year.

I agree, the lights aren't that great. They are bright but the throw is terrible. I still haven't tried aiming them higher but really shouldn't have to to remedy poor lighting.

If you want better light output, adjust your headlights. Several people on this forum have adjusted the beam down and had more light, light up the road. Ive done a couple and adjusting them down 1.5 turns has been night and day. Now instead of lighting up road signs down the road on low beam the light is where it needs to be, lighting up the road. It also let the high beams do their job.

lol the reason I asked my question about rain and snow is that I have experienced poor visibility in rain and snow.

I doubt that's a Maverick thing as it happens with pretty much anything that has LEDs and doesn't have big yellow fog lights on it.
Ya the yellower light works better in rain fog or snow, and LEDs have little yellow in them.

I think part of the flashing you is that the low beam has lights coming from 2 parts of each headlight, so people see what they think are 4 head lights and think low and high beam lights are on even with just the low being on.
An inner light comes on for high beams so light is coming from 6 places (3 from each light) with high beams on.
